Job description

Position: Senior Credit Analyst                 

Department: Credit Administration

Job Status: Full Time                                                                      

FLSA Status: Exempt     

Grade:  11                                                                                          

Reports to: VP, Commercial Credit Manager

Amount of Travel Required: No Travel Required                 

Positions Supervised: N/A

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the analysis of all relevant credit and financial data of medium-to-complex borrowers.  This data is used in evaluating the creditworthiness of commercial borrowers and in producing a comprehensive and objective credit analysis in order to assist management in the loan decision making process.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prepares objective, written analyses of moderately complex lending relationships to be used by loan officers and senior management in the loan decision making process.  Prepares related complex numerical analyses including accurate completion of financial statement spreads. 
  • Works independently and demonstrates the ability to recognize and assess pertinent risks and identify the impact that non-financial and external factors, ranging from general economic issues to industry and management issues, may have on the borrower’s ability to meet its obligations. Makes recommendations to Loan Officers and Executive Committee for approval or denial and credit risk rating.
  • Analyzes financial statements and cash flow of moderately complex borrowers and guarantors in order to determine profitability, capital adequacy, liquidity, asset quality, and the ability to repay existing and proposed obligations. 
  • Understands and remains current on bank credit policies and accurately identifies policy exceptions during the loan underwriting process.
  • Evaluates appropriateness of proposed loan structure on new deals.
  • Performs outside research as necessary on industries, real estate records, borrowers and guarantors.
  • Monitors loan covenant compliance on existing loan relationships.
  • Gathers and assimilates appropriate data for each credit analysis and determines the need to request additional information.
  • Completes assignments in a timely fashion, meeting applicable deadlines and displaying the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while producing an accurate work product.
  • Assists with training and development of less experienced staff and new analysts. 
  • Illustrates a willingness to take on additional assignments as necessary within the department.
  • Maintains a high productivity level yet produces thorough and accurate work, minimizing errors.
  • Must complete BSA, AML, and other Regulatory and Continuing Education as assigned.
  • Must adhere to all bank and regulatory policies and procedures specific to position. Assumes additional responsibilities as requested.

Education/Experience/Skills

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of three years of previous Commercial Credit Analyst experience required with demonstrated ability to work on the Bank’s largest and most complicated credit requests.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and financial statement spreading software.
  • Strong personal organization and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical experience with Commercial & Industrial Loans and Commercial Real Estate loans.
