Sr. Cost Accountant Manager – South Bend, IN
Salary: $95,000 ‒ $115,000 annually

About the Company and Sr. Cost Accountant Manager Opportunity:
  • CFS is partnering with a growing company in Niles to hire a Sr. Cost Accountant Manager

  • This Sr. Cost Accountant Manager will lead cost accounting operations, manage variance analysis, oversee inventory valuation, and provide insights that drive profitability

  • The right Sr. Cost Accountant Manager will excel in a leadership role, enjoy mentoring cost accounting staff, and be hands-on with financial data and process improvements

  • Position is fully in-office in Niles, MI Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

Job Duties of the Sr. Cost Accountant Manager:
  • Lead monthly and quarterly cost accounting close, including materials, labor, overhead, and inventory cost reconciliation

  • Perform detailed variance analyses (actual vs standard) and recommend corrective actions

  • Oversee cost of goods sold (COGS) reporting, product costing, and margin analysis

  • Manage inventory valuation methods and physical inventory reconciliations

  • Develop and maintain internal controls related to costing, inventory, and manufacturing operations

  • Partner with production, purchasing, operations and finance teams to optimize cost structure and cost flows

  • Mentor, train, and supervise cost accounting staff; ensure consistency and accuracy of cost accounting practices

Qualifications for the Sr. Cost Accountant Manager:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred

  • 5+ years of progressive cost accounting / manufacturing accounting experience, including supervisory or lead responsibilities

  • Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in variance analysis, product costing, inventory accounting

  • Experience using major ERP or cost accounting systems; strong Excel skills mandatory

  • Excellent communication skills; able to present cost findings to leadership and non-finance teams
