Job description

HGA is seeking a Cost Controls Analyst to support project planning, financial tracking, and reporting for engineering projects in Baton Rouge, LA. This role works independently with project stakeholders to develop schedules and prepare progress reports within HGA's Baton Rouge Engineering office.
Position Overview
  • The Cost Control Analyst analyzes the project financial data and forecasted data and communicates with Project Mangers as it relates to the budget
  • Provides Project Controls/Project Management monitoring and critical project information.
  • Cost Control Analyst is responsible for setting up and tracking budgets, work orders, and task orders.
  • Prepares meeting agendas, minutes, and action items.
  • Tracks the proposal process including preparing and preparation of proposal responses.
  • Takes on the roll as procurement lead as needed.
  • Forecasts and tracks total project budgets.
  • Coordinates and oversees reporting and general project support.
  • Project Controls Specialist maintains status updating on all projects.
  • Maintains project schedules and follows up with project managers, department managers, and discipline lead engineers.
  • Cost Control Analyst supports project managers as needed
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Project Controls Specialist should possess 2+ years of related experience.
  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Proficient in use of MS Windows, MS Outlook, MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Understands revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to react promptly and efficiently to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and presentation skills.
  • Capability to conduct research into project-related issues and products.
  • Capability and willingness to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A degree in construction management, construction engineering technologies, or a business field is preferred.
  • Prior project controls, project management, or project engineering experience working for an engineering consulting company or construction company is preferred.
  • Primavera P6 of Microsoft Project scheduling software experience is desired.
