THE ROLE
The Industrial Technician/Programmer will report directly to the Maintenance Manager. JELD-WEN offers a great benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401k, life insurance, disability, paid time off and holidays.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, develop, test, and support controls systems which include pneumatics, servos, VFD's, relays, communication networks, touchscreens, pushbuttons and robotic integration
  • Ensure electrical equipment fulfills all required compliance, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Read and comprehend plans and blueprints as appropriate to the trade.
  • Perform and support changeovers and start-ups for all electrical equipment.
  • Maintain and safely operate all tools and equipment used to accomplish tasks.
  • Overtime will be required for assisting in shift electrician coverage, trouble calls regarding electrical matters, and meeting needs.
  • Assist in determining, maintaining, and organizing electrical spare part inventories
  • Support commissioning efforts for new projects and systems onsite at customer facilities
  • Provide technical support and onsite troubleshooting and repair for customers
  • Ensure all relevant safety objectives are observed for all work completed
  • Create customer documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings
  • Maintain accurate records and files according to quality standards and customer requirements
  • Modifies systems upon customer's request and documents the changes accordingly
  • Communicate with shift managers and electricians to locate possible problem areas.
  • Communicate with management to obtain job assignments, receive special instruction, report deficiencies, and communicate non-traditional tasks prior to starting
  • Other duties as required or assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid Driver's License
  • 2-4-year Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred
  • 1+ year of experience in process control and automation
  • Critical thinking and exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Proactive, resourceful and highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in high output environment
  • Ability to balance multiple projects in an organized manner
  • Ability to work independently and in team environments
  • Working knowledge of MS Office productivity software
  • Good understanding of mechanical principals is a plus
  • Familiarity with reading and creating CAD drawings using AutoCAD Electrical is a plus
  • Working knowledge with Allen Bradley PLCs and RSLogix is a plus
  • Exposure to HMI / OIT Development using Rockwell and/or Wonderware software platforms is a plus
  • Travel as required to support projects. Travel time is paid
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule as needed
  • Willing to undergo a thorough background and drug screening process
