Job description

Job Summary:

The Senior Maintenance Technician is a highly skilled technical leader responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving facility infrastructure and production equipment across assigned PowerSecure locations. This role provides ownership of complex maintenance issues from initial response through root-cause resolution, supports safe and reliable equipment operation, and helps drive preventive maintenance discipline, equipment uptime, and continuous improvement. The Senior Maintenance Technician is expected to apply advanced mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, controls, and building-systems expertise while serving as a working lead, technical resource, and mentor for junior technicians. This position reinforces safe work practices, supports work-order quality in the CMMS, coordinates with vendors when needed, and helps develop the capability, confidence, and accountability of the maintenance team.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree, apprenticeship, military technical training, or equivalent industrial maintenance experience preferred.
  • Advanced hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing facility systems, production equipment, CNC/automated manufacturing equipment, and mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits up to 480 VAC and
    interpret electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings or
    schematics.
  • Strong working knowledge of preventive maintenance, CMMS/work-order
    documentation, LOTO, OSHA/EHS requirements, and safe work practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lead by example, coach and mentor junior technicians, support training, and promote a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments,
    electrical test equipment, computers, Microsoft Office, HMIs, and related
    maintenance technology.
  • Strong communication, organization, follow-up, prioritization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple work requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Forklift certification and OSHA 30-hour training preferred; ability to safely use aerial lifts and other maintenance equipment as required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a senior technical resource and working lead for maintenance activities involving production equipment, facility infrastructure, utilities, automation, and building systems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, modify, and maintain mechanical, electrical,
    hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC/control, HVAC, BMS, CNC, and automated
    manufacturing systems.
  • Lead complex maintenance repairs from diagnosis through completion, including parts identification, repair planning, safe execution, documentation, and follow-up verification.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance using the CMMS, ensuring work orders are accurate, complete, timely, and supported with clear notes, parts usage, and corrective actions.
  • Coach, train, and mentor junior technicians in troubleshooting methods, safe work practices, equipment operation, work-order documentation, and professional maintenance standards.
  • Support equipment reliability by identifying recurring failures, recommending improvements, assisting with root-cause analysis, and communicating risks or corrective actions to supervision.
  • Install, relocate, or modify equipment and utilities, including electrical power, compressed air, water, and other production-support systems, in coordination with supervision and vendors.
  • Inspect buildings, infrastructure, fire protection components, riser room
    equipment, utilities, and production-support systems; report deficiencies and complete assigned corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and direct vendor work as assigned, ensuring repairs are performed safely, documented properly, and aligned with PowerSecure expectations and site requirements.
  • Apply and reinforce LOTO, PPE, EHS requirements, lift safety, housekeeping, and safe work practices during all maintenance activities.
  • Interpret technical manuals, drawings, schematics, PLC/control information, and equipment documentation to support efficient troubleshooting and repair.
  • Perform general facility maintenance including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, welding, equipment moves, and other building or grounds repairs as needed.
  • Complete required continuing education, e-learning, classroom, and on-the-job training while supporting the skill development of the maintenance team.
  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisor with daily execution, work prioritization, technical direction, shift support, and escalation of equipment or facility issues when needed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Limited local travel will be required.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and have constant control over workflow.
  • Must be able to lift 45lbs.
  • Manual dexterity to operate digital equipment, including computers, HMIs, and other such equipment with small fine buttons and operators.
  • Routinely walking around in a production environment wearing PPE
