Job Duties and Responsibilities

This role tackles the complex challenges of maintaining a mission-critical Production Data Center environment supporting real-time spacecraft operations. The Senior Systems Engineer solves problems related to system reliability, infrastructure scaling, and the integration of automation to eliminate manual bottlenecks and minimize outage times. By bridging the gap between hardware lifecycles and software-defined infrastructure, this position ensures the seamless flow of data necessary for successful space missions.

Position Overview:

  • Design, deploy, and administer modern virtualization infrastructure

  • Architect and maintain infrastructure automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines to achieve a fully "infrastructure-as-code" environment

  • Partner with storage and network teams to develop requirements that support the high-performance demands of spacecraft engineering

  • Integrate AI-driven monitoring tools to proactively identify system trends and anomalies before they impact customer operations

  • Lead cross-functional projects simultaneously, ensuring all hardware and software upgrades are completed within change management protocols

  • Support the Spacecraft Operations team by maintaining up-to-date documentation and completing specialized spacecraft mission training

Skills, Experience and RequirementsMinimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline or 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • U.S. Person status (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident)

  • Ability to participate in 24/7 on-call duties

Required Technical Skills:

  • Python, GoLang, or Java
  • SALT, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible
  • Windows, Active Directory, DNS, and WSUS
  • VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), vSphere, and ESXi
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data sets and recognize performance trends before they become critical issues
  • Collaborative leadership to effectively communicate technical requirements to both customers and internal spacecraft engineering teams
  • Experience administering enterprise-level directory services, name resolution, and distributed file systems
  • Deep understanding of DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, virtualization technologies (VMware, Kubernetes), and Linux systems administration


Additional Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience administering DFS Namespaces and DFS Replication in an Enterprise environment.
  • Professional experience working with security hardware and software including IPS/IDS, XDR, and network scanners.
