Job description

This role is based at our Corporate Office in Menomonee Falls, WI. You’ll work onsite from Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.

About the Role

As Senior Talent Development Designer, you will lead the creation and delivery of innovative learning experiences that support business strategies and embody Kohl’s Purpose and Values at every level. You will independently manage complex learning projects from concept to completion, partnering with organizational leaders and applying the ADDIE methodology and adult learning principles.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Investigate subject matter and business needs by asking insightful questions, seeking feedback and developing an instructional design strategy that aligns with organizational goals

  • Effectively influence business partners and leaders to adopt design recommendations and pivot to alternate solutions 

  • Deliver engaging live and virtual facilitation by creating space for dialogue, adapting to participant needs, and bringing confidence, presence and credibility to every session. 

  • Adjust content in real time and use facilitation techniques that draw out perspectives, deepen understanding and connect concepts to practical application. 

  • Apply multiple design software tools (Articulate, Adobe Suite, Vyond, Google Sites, etc.) to create meaningful and memorable learning content

  • Develop and incorporate engaging stories, activities, graphics and interactions to create learning content

  • Lead the adoption of new learning technologies, formats and delivery channels to continuously enhance the learning experience

  • Leverage deep expertise and experience as a learning professional, along with internal and external business acumen, to ensure content remains relevant, current and valuable to Kohl’s learners

  • Lead self and peers in learning projects, including defining project scope, budget, risks and timelines in collaboration with business partners and leaders

  • Design and implement evaluation strategies to measure the learning experience's satisfaction and impact and inform future content development

  • Advise HR Operations regarding content deployment through the Learning Management System (Workday) and/or communication strategy

  • Mentor others in learning concepts, design tools and implementation strategies

  • Additional tasks may be assigned

What Skills You Have

Required

  • Strong written and verbal consulting and communication skills, with the ability to adapt messages to achieve desired outcomes

  • Expertise in one or more design software tools, such as Articulate, Adobe Suite, Google Suite and Vyond

  • Expert facilitation skills for both in-person and virtual environments 

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Curiosity, continual learning and the ability to mentor others in the latest instructional design trends and technologies

  • Experience in designing evaluation strategies and analyzing data to measure the effectiveness and impact of learning programs

  • Commitment to continuous improvement through peer, manager and organization feedback

  • Confidence in using AI technology responsibly and effectively to enhance and expedite the learning design process

  • Experience in consulting and navigating complex, ambiguous organizational challenges

  • Experience in peer leadership, fostering positive project team dynamics and contributing to successful outcomes.

  • Occasional overnight travel

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the Learning and Development field 

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Instructional Design or Adult Learning 

  • Experience with assessment tools such as CliftonStrengths, DiSC, etc.
