Job description

Job Summary

The role of the Communications Intern is to learn and take part in the Content Marketing Strategy of Southern Seminary and Boyce College. They will report to the Senior Content Editor, attend weekly Communications Team Meetings and regular meetings with the Senior Content Editor.

Essential Job Functions

The employee in this position will assist with telling the story of Boyce College and Southern Seminary through:

  • Planning and developing content for social media;
  • Planning and development of content for email newsletters;
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

  • Ability to compose clear, concrete, and accurate writing for digital channels;

Educational Objectives

  • Develop professional communication skills, such as time management, organization, and problem-solving.
  • Develop ability to communicate according to brand guidelines by writing in the brand's voice, adopting visual guidelines, and representing the institution in ways that advance the strategic brand positioning.
  • Gain experience in collaborating with other members of a communications team to create and implement social media campaigns
  • Develop skills in writing and editing social media content.
  • Develop journalistic and storytelling abilities through discovering content that should be shared and preparing it for publication
  • Understand the fundamentals of content marketing

EDUCATION:

The person in this position should:

  • Be currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field, preferably a Junior or Senior

SUPERVISION:

The person in this position will supervise no one.

The person in this position will report to the Southern Seminary Digital Content Manager.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The person in this position will work in a traditional office environment.

EQUIPMENT:

The person in this position will use the following equipment: computer.
