Role Summary
The Senior SAP FICO Analyst is a hands-on functional expert responsible for the design, configuration, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of SAP Financial Accounting (FI) and Controlling (CO) solutions. This role serves as a senior-level liaison between Finance stakeholders and technical teams, with direct responsibility for resolving complex FI posting issues, defining functional requirements, and collaborating closely with ABAP developers to deliver high-quality SAP solutions.
Strong SAP ECC experience with deep configuration knowledge is required. S/4HANA experience is a plus and may include support, implementation, or migration exposure.
Key Responsibilities
Senior Functional Ownership - SAP FICO
  • Serve as a senior functional SME for SAP FI and CO, including:
    • General Ledger (GL)
    • Accounts Payable (AP)
    • Accounts Receivable (AR)
    • Asset Accounting (AA)
    • Cost Centers, Internal Orders, and CO-PA
  • Act as the escalation point for complex FICO issues impacting Finance operations.

FI Posting Troubleshooting (Critical Requirement)
  • Independently troubleshoot and resolve FI posting issues, including:
    • Document posting failures
    • Account determination errors
    • Intercompany imbalances
    • Clearing and reconciliation issues
  • Analyze FI documents, configuration settings, and integration flows to determine root cause and corrective action.
  • Partner with Finance to explain issues and recommend system or process improvements.

SAP Configuration (Required)
  • Perform and maintain SAP ECC configuration, including but not limited to:
    • Company codes, fiscal year variants, posting periods
    • GL accounts, document types, posting keys, tolerance groups
    • AP/AR configuration, payment terms, payment programs, and dunning
    • Cost elements, cost centers, internal orders, and allocation cycles
  • Ensure configuration aligns with accounting standards, audit requirements, and business processes.

Functional Design & ABAP Collaboration
  • Draft and own Functional Specification Documents (FSDs) for:
    • Enhancements
    • Interfaces
    • Custom developments
    • Process improvements
  • Translate business requirements into clear functional designs consumable by technical teams.
  • Work closely with ABAP developers to:
    • Review solutions and assumptions
    • Clarify functional logic
    • Support development, testing, and defect resolution
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure solutions are functional, scalable, and supportable.

Integrations & Cross-Module Support
  • Support and troubleshoot integrations impacting FI/CO, including:
    • SD-FI
    • MM-FI
    • External systems and interfaces
  • Assist with intercompany processes, close activities, and reconciliations.

Project & Change Delivery
  • Lead or contribute to SAP initiatives including:
    • Enhancements and regulatory changes
    • Process optimization
    • System upgrades or transformations
  • Support UAT, deployment, and post-go-live activities.

S/4HANA Exposure (Plus)
  • Participate in S/4HANA-related activities, such as:
    • Readiness assessments
    • Process simplification
    • Migration support
    • Testing and stabilization

  • 7-10+ years of SAP FICO experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with SAP ECC
  • Proven SAP configuration experience (required)
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot FI postings end-to-end

  • Experience partnering with ABAP developers on custom solutions
  • Strong accounting and controlling process knowledge
