This role provides technical leadership across system design, integration, and delivery, ensuring scalable, secure, and reliable solutions across development, security, and operations. This position requires a strong understanding of client IT processes and technology stack, including DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines, Cloud One environments, and Oracle/Java-based systems operating across classified and unclassified DISA and cloud environments. The Senior Software Systems Engineer works across multiple Scrum teams and a Kanban-based Operations & Maintenance (O&M) workstream to ensure system architecture, interfaces, and integrations are aligned and efficiently progressing through the DevSecOps pipeline. This role guides technical decision-making, manages system dependencies, and ensures solutions remain aligned with program priorities and mission objectives. What you'll do * Lead system design, architecture, and integration across multi-tier, distributed applications * Ensure solutions align with DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines, enabling continuous integration, testing, and deployment * Collaborate with development, DevSecOps, Cloud Engineering, QA, and security teams to ensure end-to-end system performance and reliability * Define and maintain system interfaces, data flows, and integration patterns * Support requirements analysis and decomposition, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with system architecture * Guide development teams on best practices for scalability, performance, and security * Oversee integration of applications across cloud and on-premise environments * Identify and mitigate technical risks, system dependencies, and performance bottlenecks * Ensure alignment with client standards and compliance requirements across classified and unclassified environments * Contribute to technical documentation, system diagrams, and architecture artifacts * Develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps) to build, test, and deploy applications. * Embed security tools for code analysis (SonarQube) and container scanning (Docker/Kubernetes) within pipelines to ensure compliance. * Utilize tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Bicep to provision and manage cloud/hybrid infrastructures. * Implement RMF (Risk Management Framework), STIGs, and Zero Trust principles to meet Department of Defense Cybersecurity standards. * Collaborate on architectural design to ensure systems are deployable and scalable, often supporting DoD Programs. * Guide junior engineers in DevSecOps practices, automation techniques, and secure coding principles. Qualifications * Secret - Fully Cleared Only, must confirm clearance is active * DoD 8140 intermediate certification or DoD 8570 IAM Level II certifications or higher * US Citizens Only * Bachelor's degree in IT, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) * 8-10 years experience in software systems engineering, system architecture, or technical leadership roles * Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices * Experience designing and integrating enterprise or mission-critical systems * Proficiency with Java or similar object-oriented technologies * Experience working with cloud-based environments (e.g., AWS or similar platforms) * Strong understanding of API design, system integration, and distributed architectures * Ability to work across multiple teams and technical domains Preferred * Experience working with Agile development teams of 20+ FTEs and be familiar with Agile methodologies. * Experience supporting DoD or Air Force systems * Familiarity with Cloud One environments and secure DevSecOps practices * Experience with Oracle or enterprise data platforms * Knowledge of microservices architectures and containerization * Experience operating across classified and unclassified (DISA/cloud) environments Concept Plus is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
