Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Senior Accountant in Monroe, NC. This role is designed for an experienced accounting professional to manage complex financial operations within a project-based construction environment. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in construction-specific accounting, including WIP reporting and job costing, to ensure accurate financial reporting and support strategic decision-making alongside project leadership.

Job Type: Permanent

Annual Salary: $80,000 to $100,000 Annually BOE

Licenses/Certifications Required:

  • CPA or CPA Candidate preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Develop and review Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and oversee revenue recognition based on percentage-of-completion.
  • Monitor project costs and job profitability while reconciling budget variances with project management teams.
  • Oversee essential construction accounting functions including retainage, purchase orders, change orders, and subcontractor payments.
  • Coordinate annual audits and provide all necessary documentation and support to external auditors.
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis for multiple active construction projects.
  • Maintain internal controls and company financial policies to ensure regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with project managers and executive leadership to identify financial risks and improve project performance.
  • Mentor and support junior accounting staff to foster professional development within the department.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of total accounting experience, with at least 3 years dedicated to the construction industry.
  • Strong proficiency in construction-specific principles including job costing, WIP reporting, and retainage.
  • Experience managing the financial complexities of multiple active construction projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for complex data analysis and financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard ERP systems such as Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint Vista, Foundation, or CMiC.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights for operations teams.
  • Prior experience working with electrical or specialty trade contractors is highly preferred.
  • Experience supporting diverse project types such as commercial, industrial, healthcare, or mission-critical facilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard for prolonged periods.
