As a Senior Propulsion Component Engineer (Fluids) at Impulse, you will own all aspects of component design from concept to product realization, while working closely with a fast-paced, agile team that strives to make a high-performance spacecraft from a clean sheet design.
- Design propulsion system valves and fluid components including cryogenic, high pressure and high temperature systems
- Own all aspects of component design from initial concepts to product realizationÂ
- Generate detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawingsÂ
- Perform fluid, thermal, and structural analysis as requiredÂ
- Establish assembly procedures and work hands-on with technicians to refine this process
- Define and support rigorous component development and qualification testingÂ
- Resolve technical issues with innovative and resourceful solutionsÂ
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related fieldÂ
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in valve or component design
- A strong understanding of component design including: materials selection, compatibility, seals, wear, and force/torque margin determination.
- Hands-on experience working with fluid, electrical and mechanical systemsÂ
- Demonstrated proficiency in CAD software with ability to learn new toolsÂ
- Demonstrated ability in requirements definition, conceptual design, procurement, fabrication, assembly and testing of hardwareÂ
- Experience designing and operating high reliability, high performance hardwareÂ
- Experience with low leakage, on-orbit propulsion componentsÂ
- Experience in a startup or agile development environmentÂ
- Strong project management skills and effective communication of technical concepts across multi-disciplinary teams

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity.
