Work Schedule:ย ย ย ย ย ย  8:00 a.m. โ€“ 4:30 p.m. Monday through Fridayย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Location: Custody

Organization: Community National Bank was founded in 1984 by a group of individuals in Nemaha County, Kansas with diverse local ownership with decisions made on a local level.

Position mission: Responsible for support to the accounting team to ensure the annual tax reporting is done accurately, IRS deadlines are met, and custody accounts are maintained as transactions or events occur.

Major Duties:

  • Maintain cost accounting system for taxable accounts.ย 
  • Assist with monthly accounting accruals, financial, statistical reporting.
  • Assist with monthly account reconciliations.
  • Assist with tax reporting for non-qualified accounts and IRA accounts to meet IRS filing deadlines.
  • Answer phone calls for phone groups as assigned, especially tax.
  • Assist with outside audits and OCC exams.
  • Support the Senior Accounting & Tax Manager with special projects, process improvements, and policies and procedures.
  • Assist in ensuring that Custody accounting records are prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and tax reporting meets IRS guidelines.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

General Responsibilities:

  • Support CNBโ€™s strong relationship culture through quality customer service and superior product knowledge.
  • Provide superior customer service by resolving problems efficiently and responding timely.
  • Identify and implement solutions to problems in general and urgent matters.
  • Actively seek to add and enhance knowledge regarding developments and current trends in the industry.
  • Seek counsel of supervisor on issues as appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to maintain a team environment.
  • Flexible to accept additional assignments as requested by leadership.
  • Cross train for other positions to cover when necessary.
  • Professionalism while representing CNB (onsite, professional and community events and via communications).
  • Participate and attend meetings as requested.
  • Recommend policies and procedures as it relates to area of responsibility.
  • Timely responses to inquiries for information to customers, staff, and vendors.
  • Answer telephone calls and provide a prompt response.
  • Follow CNBโ€™s policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described are representative to those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand and sit for extended lengths of time, read computer screens, talk on the phone, unpack and move supplies up to fifty (50) pounds, reach, kneel, bend, climb and balance. Vision abilities required for this job include close vision.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business with accounting/finance preferred and a minimum of two to four years of relevant work experience preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail including auditing work of others, evaluating, planning, reporting, and record keeping.
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong data processing skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products, specifically Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics including fractions, algebraic calculations, diagrams, and descriptive statistics.
  • Ability to type, answer the phone, and use a ten-key.
