Senior Commercial Lenders frequently work alongside credit analysts, underwriters, legal teams, and relationship managers to structure and finalize complex loan agreements. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as each department contributes specialized expertise—from financial risk assessment to legal compliance and client relationship management. This collaborative approach ensures that loan proposals meet both client needs and the bank’s risk standards, making interdepartmental coordination a core part of the Senior Commercial Lender’s daily responsibilities.

Job description

Commercial Lender – Indiana, PA

Highland Consulting Group is partnering with a respected, community-oriented financial institution to identify a Commercial Lender for the Indiana market.

This is an opportunity for a true relationship banker. Our client has built its reputation by taking a long-term approach with customers and employees alike. The organization combines the stability of an established institution with the flexibility and personal touch often lost at larger banks.

If you enjoy being visible in the community, developing meaningful customer relationships, and having the support to serve clients the right way, this may be the opportunity you've been looking for.

The Role

The Commercial Lender will inherit an existing portfolio of commercial relationships while continuing to expand the bank's presence throughout the Indiana market. The position focuses primarily on Commercial Real Estate (CRE) lending with some C&I exposure and offers significant autonomy supported by experienced credit, underwriting, and servicing teams.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and deepen commercial banking relationships throughout Indiana and the surrounding communities.
  • Grow an existing portfolio while identifying new business opportunities.
  • Structure and originate Commercial Real Estate (CRE) loans with some C&I exposure.
  • Prospect for new commercial customers, deposit relationships, and referral sources.
  • Conduct preliminary credit analysis and assess lending opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal credit, underwriting, and servicing teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Represent the bank within the community and maintain an active network of business relationships.
  • Achieve annual production goals of approximately $8–12MM in new loan production.

Why Bankers Join This Organization

  • Financially strong institution with a long-term outlook.
  • Mutual bank structure that prioritizes relationships over transactions.
  • Accessible leadership team and open-door culture.
  • Opportunity to inherit an established portfolio.
  • Strong support from analysts, underwriting, and servicing teams.
  • Collaborative, family-oriented environment with minimal bureaucracy.
  • The ability to make an impact and develop customers over time.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial banking or lending experience preferred.
  • Commercial Real Estate lending experience required; C&I experience is a plus.
  • Existing network or strong market knowledge in Indiana, PA and surrounding communities preferred.
  • Formal credit training is beneficial but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills.
  • Ability to independently assess opportunities and communicate effectively with credit partners.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to business development.

Compensation

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and production history.

The bank has established career levels ranging from early-career lenders transitioning into commercial banking to experienced producers with established books of business. Competitive base salary, incentive compensation, and benefits are offered.
