Description:

The CNC Machine Setup & Programming Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and programming CNC machines, including mills, lathes, and routers, to produce precision parts that meet quality and safety standards. This role supports the Lead CNC Programmer/Operator and serves as a backup resource, requiring strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot machining and programming issues.


Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate CNC machines according to prints, setup sheets, and work instructions

• Install, adjust, and verify tooling, fixtures, and materials (ferrous and non-ferrous metals, wood, and plastic).

• Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and/or CAM output

• Load, verify, and edit programs; adjust offsets, tooling, feeds, and speeds as needed

• Support and back up the Lead CNC Programmer/Operator as required

• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measuring tools

• Troubleshoot machining, programming, or dimensional issues and implement corrections

• Monitor machines during production runs to maintain quality and consistency

• Document setups, programs, inspections, and production activity

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Requirements:

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school preferred

• CNC setup, operation, and programming experience required

• Experience with Haas, Fanuc, or similar controls

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and work instructions

• Working knowledge of G-code, tooling, feeds, speeds, and cutter selection

• Proficient with measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-focused

• Experience proving out new jobs or taking parts from print to production preferred


Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs

• Standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods
