Compensation: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year


Primary Responsibilities: A Tax Senior Associate is an experienced professional who is responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns and related tax forms.


Essential Duties:

  • Accurately completes tax returns, related tax forms, projections, and transmittals for individuals, trusts, and businesses.
  • Prepares workpapers to support the amounts and responses on the tax return, which entails:
  • o Gathering necessary documents and information to prepare the tax forms;
  • o Organizing the documents;
  • o Determining tax treatment of the transactions;
  • o Documenting calculations, analysis, and tax treatment of transactions; and
  • o Identifying missing information and assisting to obtain the information.
  • Tracks, prioritizes, and communicates the status of multiple projects to ensure due dates are met.
  • Promptly addresses comments from the reviewer.
  • Reviews tax returns, related tax forms, projections, workpapers, and transmittals for simpler individuals, trusts, and businesses, which includes:
  • o Providing feedback on the preparer's work and ensuring that the work is accurate and complete.
  • o Communicates directly with the client to obtain information to complete the tax return and address questions as they arise.
  • o Fosters a work environment open to questions and discussion.
  • Trains associates on software, policies, and procedures to ensure that they perform their work in accordance with professional standards and guidelines.
  • Participates in the performance evaluation of Tax Associates and Tax Services Administrative team.
  • Maintains a strong understanding of current and upcoming tax regulations.
  • Finishes special projects as assigned by management.
  • Enforces the company's systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Ensures a safe, secure, and legal work environment.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Working Conditions: Indoors. Air-conditioned office. Remote work available after initiation period and based off of performance.


Work Hours:

  • Generally, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Duties may require overtime. Weekends or additional hours as necessary to meet business needs.


Requirements:

  • Requires holding all confidential information in trust and confidence. The Senior Associate should only use, access, store, or disclose confidential information as appropriate in the performance of their duties for the company. An employee should comply with all applicable state and federal laws and company policies relating to access, use, and disclosure of confidential information.
  • Requires analytical ability, attention to detail, concentration, ability to multi-task, and alertness.
  • Requires dealing with situations involving changing priorities, complex issues, and maintaining cooperative and productive work relationships.
  • Must be able to work under minimal supervision.
  • Requires working with other individuals to ensure the department meets the due dates as well as promoting an environment open for discussion and questions.
  • Requires being available for questions from clients or other team members during defined work hours.
  • Requires sitting for prolonged periods during meetings and at other times.
  • Requires adhering to established procedures and maintaining reliable work attendance.
  • Requires verbal communication skills and ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; AND
  • At least 2 years of public accounting experience as a tax preparer; OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting
  • Active Hawaii CPA license.
