Job Title: Senior Civil Engineering Technician -Federal (Civil 3D)

Employment Type: Contract to hire
Job Overview
Black & Veatch is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineering Technician to support mission-critical federal infrastructure projects. In this role, you will develop high-quality civil engineering deliverables including site development plans, grading designs, utility layouts, and construction drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D. You will also provide technical guidance to engineering technicians and support design quality across complex infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop civil engineering drawings and design documents using Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
  • Prepare site development, grading, drainage, and utility layout plans.
  • Perform design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, and technical documentation.
  • Review drawings for quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the design process.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to junior technicians.
  • Maintain drawing standards, project documentation, and revision control.
  • Support process improvements and ensure consistent project deliverables.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong experience with Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
  • Experience in site development, grading, utility layout, and civil design.
  • Ability to prepare construction drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Experience reviewing technical deliverables and maintaining design quality.
