Brex

Salt Lake City, UT • On-site

Full-time

Job description

Why join us
Brex is the intelligent finance platform that enables companies to spend smarter and move faster in more than 200 markets. By combining global corporate cards and banking with intuitive spend management, bill pay, and travel software, Brex enables founders and finance teams to accelerate operations, gain real-time visibility, and control spend effortlessly. Brex's AI-native automation and world-class service eliminate manual expense and accounting tasks for customers so they can focus on what matters most. Tens of thousands of the world's best companies run on Brex, including DoorDash, Coinbase, Robinhood, Zoom, Plaid, Reddit, and SeatGeek.
Working at Brex allows you to push your limits, challenge the status quo, and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the industry. We're committed to building a diverse team and inclusive culture and believe your potential should only be limited by how big you can dream. We make this a reality by empowering you with the tools, resources, and support you need to grow your career.
Implementation at Brex
Implementation transforms new customers into power users. We lead the onboarding experience for companies adopting Brex Empower, helping them shift from outdated processes to a modern, employee-first approach. It's a role that blends customer empathy, project management, technical expertise, process design, and change management. We take personal ownership of our customers' long-term success, and we set customers up thoroughly so they can be with 'Brex for life'. As strategic advisors, we build trust, drive solutions with tenacity, deliver results fast, and work cross-functionally to make adoption seamless for customers.
What you'll do
Brex is entering its next phase of growth as part of Capital One, scaling from roughly $500M in revenue toward billions. As we do, procurement spend has emerged as one of our largest untapped opportunities: tens of billions of dollars in vendor payments still move over ACH and check rather than card. With the rise of virtual cards, capturing that spend represents a significant and largely greenfield opportunity, and this role owns it.
As the leader of Spend Conversion, you will build the strategy, playbook, and eventually the team responsible for migrating enterprise vendor spend onto Brex. You will operate at the intersection of product, implementation, business development, and sales, partnering directly with our largest customers to unlock spend that currently lives outside our platform. This is a 0-to-1 opportunity to define what success looks like, prove the model, and scale it.
Rather than replicating the manual, high-headcount approach legacy issuers rely on, you will design a differentiated, AI-native function built for how Brex operates. It is a high-visibility role with meaningful room to grow, and the opportunity to establish a function that becomes a core driver of the company's next stage of growth.
Where you'll work
This role will be based in our Salt Lake City office. We are a hybrid environment that combines the energy and connections of being in the office with the benefits and flexibility of working from home. We currently require a minimum of three coordinated days in the office per week, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. As a perk, we also have up to four weeks per year of fully remote work!
Responsibilities
  • Build the Spend Conversion function from the ground up, defining the strategy, entry criteria, engagement model, and KPIs for converting non-card vendor spend to Brex.
  • Envision a holistic approach involving key parties and operations from Capital One as well as 3rd party vendors.
  • Own the end-to-end vendor spend migration motion, from vendor-file analysis and card-acceptance identification through negotiation and card activation.
  • Partner cross-functionally with product, implementation, BD, and sales to bring these workflows to market, and to grow our acceptance database through data partnerships, not just outreach.
  • Advise enterprise customers directly, unlocking spend with their most strategic vendors and translating their goals into concrete migration and negotiation plans.
  • Influence RFPs and other evaluations of Brex by prospective customers; drive confidence in Brex's Suppler Enablement program and best-in-class capabilities
  • Design a differentiated, AI-native approach to supplier enablement rather than replicating the manual playbook legacy issuers rely on.
  • Establish the operational rigor (tracking, reporting, and incentive structures) that makes the function measurable and scalable.
  • Hire and coach a team of specialists as the function proves out, operating as a player-coach in the early phase.
  • Champion spend conversion internally, educating stakeholders and shaping how Brex captures share-of-wallet across its customer base.

Requirements
  • 5+ years in B2B/commercial card, payments, supplier enablement, or vendor/payment operations, deep enough to shorten the learning curve, rather than learning the domain on the job.
  • Demonstrated experience building a function or program from 0-to-1 (or scaling something early and unstructured), standing up processes, KPIs, and operating cadences where little existed.
  • Working knowledge of card acceptance and merchant economics: how vendors process cards, card-on-file vs. card-per-invoice, fees, and the buyer/supplier trade-offs (e.g., DSO/DPO, cash flow).
  • Proven ability to negotiate and influence, with vendors on acceptance terms and internally across executives and functions.
  • Direct customer-facing experience with enterprise customers; comfort owning senior relationships and turning customer goals into execution.
  • A first-principles, builder mentality: you create the vision and drive it forward through ambiguity rather than waiting for a playbook.
  • Track record as a cross-functional operator who has shipped alongside product, sales/BD, and implementation.
  • A leadership foundation: you've led people or major initiatives and are ready to build and manage a team over time.

Bonus points
  • Experience at a bank or issuer with a commercial/business card program (supplier enablement, merchant services, or similar), where you've seen this motion run at scale.
  • Deep AI fluency: you've used or built AI/agentic workflows to automate operational work and you're eager to apply that here.
  • Startup or founder experience, ideally at an early-stage or AI-native company, bringing speed and scrappiness.
  • Exposure to a high-growth tech or fintech environment where you navigated a high level of cross-functional complexity.

Compensation
The expected salary range for this role is $188,000 - $235,000 USD. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate's location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
