Senior Capture Manager information

What is a senior capture manager?

A Senior Capture Manager is a professional responsible for leading and managing the process of winning new business opportunities, typically within government or large enterprise sectors. They develop and execute strategies to capture contracts by understanding client needs, building relationships, overseeing proposal development, and coordinating with internal teams. Senior Capture Managers often have extensive experience in business development, sales, and project management. Their work is critical in ensuring their organization successfully pursues and secures high-value contracts.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior capture manager?

To thrive as a Senior Capture Manager, you need deep expertise in business development, proposal management, and strategic planning, often backed by a bachelor’s degree and extensive experience in government contracting or a related field. Familiarity with CRM systems, proposal automation tools (such as Deltek or Salesforce), and knowledge of federal acquisition regulations are typically required. Strong leadership, persuasive communication, and analytical thinking are essential soft skills for building teams and cultivating client relationships. These abilities are critical for identifying opportunities, crafting winning proposals, and securing high-value contracts in a competitive marketplace.

What are some common challenges senior capture managers face during the proposal development process, and how can they effectively address them?

Senior Capture Managers often encounter challenges such as tight deadlines, shifting client requirements, and aligning diverse teams across business development, technical, and pricing functions. To address these, effective communication and early stakeholder engagement are critical. Senior Capture Managers typically establish clear timelines, set regular check-ins, and foster collaboration among team members to ensure everyone is aligned and responsive to changes. Proactively identifying potential risks and maintaining flexibility throughout the capture process also contribute to successful proposal outcomes.

Job Title: Sr. Project Manager I

GLX Technologies helps Oil & Gas and Water Utility clients optimize operations through automation. Our field services and professional services divisions provide end-to-end solutions—from system design and field integration to final commissioning. We offer both application-specific builds and off-the-shelf control panels to meet diverse needs. By enabling real-time monitoring, control, and data visualization, we drive efficiency, cost reduction, and compliance. With a phased approach to automation, we empower clients to modernize at their own pace, ensuring flexibility, scalability, and long-term sustainability.

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Houston office, reporting to the Director of Professional Services. This senior role provides leadership and accountability for the full project lifecycle of automation, SCADA, and industrial control system deployments. The Senior Project Manager will lead multidisciplinary project teams, ensure alignment across internal and external stakeholders, and drive execution excellence in scope, schedule, budget, and quality. The role also supports strategic project planning, client engagement, and continuous process improvement across our delivery portfolio. This position includes a travel requirement of up to 25% to client sites and other GLX locations, as needed, to support successful project delivery and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary project leader and client interface, responsible for successful delivery of complex technical projects from initiation through closeout.
  • Lead project initiation by facilitating hand-off meetings between Sales and the Professional Services team, ensuring alignment on scope, deliverables, and client expectations.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, resource allocations, and budgets using planning and SharePoint tools.
  • Guide the project team in executing project plans, resolving issues, and managing changes to scope or schedule with transparency and discipline.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, regular status updates, and collaborative problem solving.
  • Oversee procurement, subcontractor coordination, and vendor deliverables to support project milestones.
  • Ensure documentation and tracking of all project activities including meeting notes, material orders, subcontractor performance, and field reports.
  • Lead recurring internal and client-facing project meetings to monitor progress, manage risks, and document change orders.
  • Partner with Finance to ensure accurate billing, milestone tracking, and financial forecasting.
  • Conduct periodic project and post-project reviews to analyze performance, capture lessons learned, and identify areas for improvement in tools, processes, and team coordination.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in project management roles within engineering, automation, SCADA, or industrial infrastructure environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex technical projects with a focus on safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Strong familiarity with Controls, Automation, and I&E systems, with direct experience in utility, energy, or industrial sectors preferred.
  • Advanced in MS Project Online, SharePoint, MS Teams, and the broader Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills with a client-oriented mindset.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.
  • PMP certification preferred; equivalent project management credentials or advanced certifications will be considered.
  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale or high-complexity projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities with a collaborative leadership style.
  • Experience mentoring junior project managers or contributing to PMO and process development initiatives is highly desirable.

Full Benefits Package Includes:

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Generous paid time off and health savings account options.
  • Competitive 401(K) with company matching.
  • Life insurance and additional perks.
