Job description

More than 135 years ago, we started with core values that never go out of style: listen, learn and help businesses and individuals reach their goals. These core values shape our culture, and we were recently Great Place to Work Certified because of our outstanding workplace culture and employee experience. As well, our financial strength and stability are key reasons Forbes named us one of the Best 100 Banks in America for the ninth consecutive year.

With more than $16 billion in assets and 135 branch locations throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and California, we understand our role in the economy and take that responsibility seriously. In addition to offering a source of capital to personal banking clients and businesses of all sizes, we place a high importance on employee volunteerism and donate millions of dollars each year to community organizations.

As a Senior Capital Stress Testing Program Analyst, you'll play a key role in helping Banner Bank assess risk, strengthen financial resilience, and support strategic decision-making. This position offers the opportunity to partner with leaders across Finance, Risk, and business lines to develop and enhance enterprise stress testing programs while delivering meaningful insights to senior management, regulators, and the Board of Directors.

In this role you'll
  • Develop and maintain stress testing processes, methodologies, and documentation for the Annual Enterprise-Wide Stress Test and quarterly loan-level stress testing.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources supporting enterprise stress testing initiatives.
  • Prepare analyses, forecasting models, and presentation materials for the Capital Stress Test Committee and Loan Portfolio Stress Test Committee.
  • Develop analytical tools that support forecasting of loan and deposit balances, income statement items, and balance sheet impacts under stress scenarios.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, program enhancements, and strategic alignment with business objectives.
  • Provide thought leadership and analytical support for operational and integration activities related to acquisitions and other enterprise initiatives.
  • Apply structured project management methodologies to Finance, Risk, and enterprise-wide programs.
  • Develop and execute project plans, status reports, and leadership updates.
  • Monitor regulatory requirements and industry practices related to stress testing, capital planning, and financial reporting.
  • Perform gap analyses of policies, processes, and technology capabilities and recommend improvements.
  • Manage the reporting and resolution of issues, risks, and dependencies while proactively driving mitigation plans and action items.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, security requirements, and applicable government regulations.
What we're looking for
  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Business, or a related quantitative discipline. (Required)
  • You understand that an equivalent combination of education and experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • You have a Master's degree. (Preferred)
  • You have 4+ years of experience in financial services or banking within a commercial banking organization or top-tier management consulting firm. (Required)
  • Have experience with enterprise-wide stress testing, Basel III capital planning, and model risk management. (Preferred)
  • You have experience with quantitative analysis, modeling, or strategic analytics within the financial services industry. (Preferred)
  • You have experience with financial reporting software, ALM software, BancWare, database applications, or R Studio. (Preferred)
What helps you shine
  • You bring deep knowledge of enterprise-wide stress testing processes, including forecasting loan and deposit balances and pre-provision net revenue.
  • You can effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
  • You quickly build partnerships, credibility, and trust with stakeholders across all levels of an organization.
  • Possess strong data analysis, financial analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Have demonstrated success working with cross-functional stakeholders and navigating complex initiatives.
  • You communicate clearly and confidently through both written and verbal communication, including technical and executive-level presentations.
  • Have strong technical writing skills and can translate complex concepts into meaningful business insights.
  • You understand federal and state laws and regulations related to accounting, financial reporting, and stress testing.
