Role Description
An experienced Healthcare Account Executive who will drive growth across strategic provider and health plan accounts. This role is responsible for creating and closing new business opportunities, expanding existing client relationships, and developing partner‑led opportunities across UST’s core healthcare offerings, including Epic Cloud & Infrastructure Modernization, AI & Data Transformation, Epic-at-Payer Solutions, and Managed Services.
The ideal candidate is a proven healthcare sales leader with experience navigating complex provider and payer organizations, building executive relationships, and closing multi‑million‑dollar transformation engagements.
The Opportunity
- Serve as the senior payer‑functional and technology SME on client engagements – Epic Payer Platform and Tapestry implementations, structured assessments, technology roadmaps, architecture reviews, RFP responses, and advisory retainers.
- Advise health‑plan executives (CIO, CFO, COO, CMO) on platform and architecture decisions: core admin modernization, EPP and Tapestry fit, incumbent platform trajectory (Facets, QNXT, HealthEdge), data and interoperability strategy, regulatory readiness (CMS‑0057, V28, ECDS), and value‑based care enablement.
- Lead or co‑lead structured assessment and roadmap engagements end‑to‑end – applying UST’s Epic Payer Assessment framework when the question is platform fit, applying the broader payer technology roadmap approach when the question is wider.
- Partner with UST Contineo Epic delivery leadership on active implementations – providing functional guidance on UM, claims, enrollment, provider data, HEDIS, risk adjustment, and care management workflows; resolving payer‑functional questions the technical delivery team escalates.
- Support business development: pre‑sales technical conversations, RFP responses, solution shaping, oral presentations. The expectation is meaningful contribution to BD, not origination ownership at this level.
- Develop the practice’s bench – mentor junior consultants on payer functional depth; help Epic‑certified resources extend into the payer‑specific module conversations.
- Stay current on the payer technology landscape – Epic releases, incumbent platform trajectory, regulatory evolution, vendor consolidation, AI in UM and member service.
What you need
- At least 8 years in enterprise healthcare sales experience with providers, health systems, health plans, or healthcare technology organizations.
- Direct experience implementing Epic Payer Platform, Tapestry, Healthy Planet, MyChart, or Cogito/Caboodle at a health plan – at least one substantive engagement as a functional or technology lead.
- Working knowledge of the broader payer technology landscape: incumbent core admin platforms (Facets, QNXT, HealthEdge, HealthRules, CAPS/AMISYS/PowerMHS, custom), interface engines (Cloverleaf, Mirth, Rhapsody, Corepoint), and FHIR/Da Vinci IGs (PDex, Plan‑Net, CRD, DTR, PAS).
- Functional depth in at least two of: utilization management and prior auth; claims and benefits configuration; enrollment and eligibility; provider data and network; HEDIS and quality; risk adjustment; member experience and digital.
- Fluency in CMS‑0057, CMS‑HCC V28, HEDIS ECDS, Stars, TEFCA, and value‑based care regulatory landscape. Can translate each into operational and financial implications for a plan.
- Strong client presence – comfortable in CIO/COO/CFO rooms, calm under pressure, can defend a recommendation without flinching.
- Strong writing – board memos, executive summaries, architecture documents, RFP responses.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or healthcare‑focused graduate degree preferred.
- Epic Tapestry, Healthy Planet, or Payer Platform certification (or recent attendance at Epic UGM with module‑level depth).
- Prior consulting at McKinsey, Bain, BCG, Oliver Wyman, Chartis, Deloitte, EY‑Parthenon, KPMG, PwC, or Accenture’s payer practice.
- Operating experience at a regional Blue, hospital‑affiliated payvider, or provider‑sponsored plan – particularly a named Epic adopter.
- Stars / quality leadership, risk adjustment leadership, or actuarial credential (ASA, FSA).
- Financial modeling depth – TCO, NPV, sensitivity analysis.
