Job description

Minimum Requirements

Experience: Ten (10) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

License/Certification:

Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI) Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification holder.

Bachelor’s Degree preferred

OSHA30 certified.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Trained in Telecommunications Cabling Installation Codes and Standards

Trained in Grounding and Bonding Principles

Trained in Cable Installation Safety

Working knowledge of Outside Plant industry guidelines and standards and codes.

Proven experience as a communications planner with extensive background in telecommunications infrastructure planning and design, and the ability to communicate the plans and concepts to all levels of personnel, management, and contractors.

Proven experience with telecommunications and network infrastructure to include: an understanding of terms, concepts, inside and outside fiber and copper cabling, communications cabling infrastructure design, cost estimation, industry standards and codes, and telephone systems and data network equipment.

Ability to design, estimate costs, develop scope of work, specify materials, and oversee the implementation of intra and inter-building communications cabling infrastructure to include the construction and modification of pathways and spaces, and all types of copper and fiber cable and termination devices.

In depth and applied understanding of industry standards for communications cabling systems, electrical systems, communications pathways and spaces, and for general construction.

Proven skills in reading and interpreting maps, blueprints, and electrical plans.

Project management skills: planning, estimating, budgeting, leading technical teams in projects, scheduling, coordinating, communicating, documenting, etc. required to manage multiple large telecommunications projects.

Problem solving skills to identify complex problem areas and service requirements, and to develop innovative solutions.

Analytical skills required for evaluating projects, performing needs assessment, estimating costs, managing a budget, prioritizing workload, etc.

Proven ability to work independently and to manage time to meet deadlines in an environment of changing priorities, and frequent interruptions.

Customer service skills and strong interpersonal/conflict resolution skills.

Written and verbal communication skills required in order to provide information and reports in a clear, concise and logical manner. Proven ability to present written and verbal communications to upper management.

Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people as an individual contributor, a team leader, and as a team member to achieve the goals of the department.

Strong computer literacy and proficient using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Be extremely familiar with and have working knowledge of California Building Codes, Electrical Codes, Fire Protection Codes, and any other applicable codes and standards required to meet objectives.
