Job description

Responsibilities:
  • Collect laboratory data and author Oxygen Depletion Hazard (ODH) risk assessments for research labs.
  • Evaluate laboratory ventilation systems and collaborate with Building Engineers on airflow assessments.
  • Identify requirements for oxygen and CO monitoring systems and coordinate installation of sensors and HSE signage.
  • Support automation of the laboratory oxygen assessment process by evaluating software solutions and standardized calculation methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, tracking tools, and program records.
  • Partner with HSE, Facilities Engineering, and Research teams to ensure compliance with laboratory safety requirements.
  • Perform oxygen (O) and carbon dioxide (CO) depletion calculations for laboratories utilizing nitrogen (N), argon (Ar), carbon dioxide (CO), helium (He), and other oxygen-displacing gases.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental, Biomedical, Industrial, or related discipline).
  • 1-3 years of engineering experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, laboratory, research, or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience performing engineering calculations, technical risk assessments, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of laboratory ventilation systems and safety principles.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and project coordination skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Oxygen Deficiency Hazard (ODH) assessments and laboratory safety programs.
  • Experience supporting HSE or Facilities Engineering initiatives within regulated environments.
  • AI experience preferred, particularly using AI tools to automate engineering calculations, develop SmartForms, and improve engineering data management and reporting.
