Senior Automation Technician
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior Automation Technician to lead and support our maintenance and automation operations across multiple facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of automated and mechanical production equipment, while leading and training maintenance technicians and supporting the planning, installation, commissioning, and optimization of new equipment and automation systems.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in industrial automation, electrical systems, mechanical systems, and production equipment maintenance with leadership, troubleshooting, and project support capabilities. This individual will also serve as a key technical resource for international facilities and coordinate with local support teams to maintain consistent equipment reliability and operational standards across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance amp; Technical Support
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize automated and mechanical production equipment to maximize uptime, reliability, and production efficiency.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues involving: PLCs, HMIs, Robotics, Sensors, Servo systems, Industrial networks, Pneumatic systems, Mechanical drive systems, Conveyors andmaterial handling equipment, Electrical controls and power systems, Automated and semi-automated production equipment
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring equipment failures.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs across automation, mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Coordinate emergency troubleshooting and rapid recovery of production equipment.

Team Leadership amp; Training
  • Lead and oversee the daily activities of the maintenance technician team.
  • Train and mentor maintenance technicians on: Automation systems, Mechanical systems, Electrical troubleshooting, Pneumatic systems, Safe work practices, Preventive maintenance procedures, Troubleshooting methods
  • Develop technical training materials and standard operating procedures.
  • Promote continuous improvement and technical skill development within the maintenance team.
Automation Projects amp; Commissioning
  • Participate in the planning, installation, startup, and commissioning of new automation equipment and production lines.
  • Collaborate with operations, vendors, and integrators during project execution.
  • Assist with: equipment acceptance testing, startup validation, debugging, and process optimization.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, automation performance, and manufacturing efficiency.

International Support amp; Coordination
  • Travel internationally to support production equipment and automation systems at company facilities and partner locations.
  • Coordinate with local maintenance and support staff to ensure standardized maintenance and automation practices.
  • Provide onsite technical support during equipment installations, troubleshooting, maintenance activities, and commissioning projects.
  • Assist in developing global equipment support procedures and best practices.

Qualifications
Required
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial automation, manufacturing maintenance, controls, or production equipment support.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience with automated and mechanical production equipment.
  • Experience with: PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar), HMIs and robotics, Servo drives and electrical controls, Pneumatic and mechanical systems, and Industrial networking
  • Proven experience leading or mentoring maintenance technicians.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics/drawings.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel internationally as needed.
Preferred
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Automation Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field.
  • Experience supporting high-speed manufacturing or automated production environments.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is strongly preferred
  • Experience with equipment startup, commissioning, and process optimization.
  • Professional Fanuc training
  • Experience with ultrasonic welders
  • Experience in the plastics industry
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and troubleshoot equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment/components as needed.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
