Job Description: The Senior Automation Engineer brings technical experience in designing, implementing, and improving Automated Material Handling Systems and Technology within the fulfillment network. This role works closely with functional stakeholders, vendors, and other engineers to solve problems and reduce fulfillment costs with minimal direction.

  • Interface with external vendors and system integrators to design automated order fulfillment solutions. Scope and stay up to date on top industry technology such as AMRs, Robotics, ASRS, sortation systems, etc.
  • Lead data analytic efforts for designing Automation and Material Handling Systems. Ability to extract clear and concise outputs from messy inputs.
  • Analyze large sets of data and provide clear and actionable insights. Creating operations-facing productivity dashboards and being a pioneer for leveraging data to measure success.
  • Optimize Distribution Center layouts, material flows, Automation equipment, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional team members to ensure their business needs are met by new system designs.
  • Support business case justification for new technology, CapEx purchases and process enhancements.
  • Translate complex technical information into simple documentation and presentations, independently.
  • Leverage GenAI to automate time consuming tasks and improve internal processes.

  • 5+ years of engineering experience in multi-site industrial distribution, manufacturing, or processing environments preferred
  • 5+ Years experience with SQL (Snowflake, MSSQL) and advanced data visualization tools (Tableau, Grafana, etc.)
  • Experience with simulation software (FlexSim, etc.) and MOST modeling
  • Experience with using Warehouse Control Systems (WCS/WES) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude and an ability to understand how equipment and systems operate.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, professional attitude, and approach (and the ability to interact with individuals at various levels of the organization, up and down).
