Job description

SENIOR ARCHITECT

Why This Role Matters:

As the Senior Architect, you will bring advanced architectural expertise, creative problem-solving, and technical leadership to a diverse range of projects and market sectors. You will play a key part in delivering innovative, high-quality design solutions while helping strengthen and develop CPL’s architectural teams.

With a strong understanding of both design and technical execution, you will independently explore, evaluate, and recommend design solutions that not only meet but exceed client expectations. Reporting to a Project Manager or Principal, you will provide leadership and technical direction throughout every stage of a project—from planning and design through documentation and construction administration.

You will serve as a trusted technical resource, collaborating with project teams to navigate challenges, elevate design quality, and drive successful project outcomes. Beyond project delivery, this role contributes to the growth of the practice by sharing expertise, mentoring team members, and helping foster a culture of design excellence and innovation.

What You’ll Do:

  • Coordinate architectural work throughout all phases of project delivery and assist with workload planning
  • Participate in client meetings during planning, design, and construction phases
  • Lead design and contract document work sessions with multidisciplinary teams
  • Prepare and edit architectural specifications
  • Perform quality control and quality assurance reviews
  • Research and interpret codes, regulations, and industry best practices
  • Coordinate submissions for AHJ review, permitting, bidding, and construction
  • Participate in construction administration activities including RFIs and change management
  • Provide technical guidance to architects, technicians, and interns
  • Support staff development and mentoring initiatives
  • Assist with project staffing and resource coordination
  • Contribute to business development and client relationship activities

What You Bring:

  • Professional degree in Architecture and at least seven (7) years of related experience
  • Registered Architect (RA)
  • Proficiency in Revit, Microsoft Office Suite, InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and visualization tools
  • Strong understanding of building codes, standards, regulations, and project delivery methods
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple projects
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, sustainable design, and construction administration
  • Ability to mentor and guide less experienced staff

The rate for this position generally ranges between $90,000.00 - 112,000.00 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by New York Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employees already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
