Job description

Software Engineer – Senior (contingent 045)

The Biometric Software Engineer provides software engineering support for advanced biometric collection and matching systems used in military and government operations. This role supports the full lifecycle of biometric applications, from tactical collection and matching capabilities to enterprise-level multimodal biometric storage, analysis, and identity management solutions. The position requires expertise in software development, cybersecurity, and secure handling of sensitive biometric data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance software applications supporting biometric collection, matching, storage, and analysis systems.
  • Troubleshoot software issues and develop patches, updates, and corrective actions to ensure operational effectiveness.
  • Support enterprise and tactical biometric systems utilizing fingerprint, facial recognition, iris, and other biometric modalities.
  • Develop, execute, and document software testing procedures, validation plans, and test reports.
  • Implement and maintain secure software architectures that comply with government cybersecurity and information assurance requirements.
  • Develop and enforce data protection measures, including encryption, access controls, auditing, and secure data management practices.
  • Support software integration activities across military and government biometric platforms.
  • Participate in Agile, DevOps, and DevSecOps development processes, including continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify requirements, develop solutions, and implement system enhancements.
  • Support compliance with government security regulations and accreditation requirements.
  • Must adhere to the company’s AS9100 and QMS policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Strong foundation in software engineering principles and software development lifecycle methodologies.
  • Experience supporting biometric systems, including tactical biometric collection, matching, and enterprise-level multimodal biometric solutions.
  • Knowledge of information assurance, encryption technologies, secure coding practices, and military security protocols.
  • Experience developing applications for Android or other mobile operating systems.
  • Experience working within Agile, DevOps, or DevSecOps environments.
  • Knowledge of software testing methodologies, troubleshooting techniques, and configuration management practices.
  • Ability to implement and maintain security controls protecting sensitive biometric and identity data.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
  • A secret security clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, Homeland Security, or other federal government biometric programs.
  • Familiarity with biometric standards, identity management systems, and secure mobile application development.
  • Experience with cloud-based biometric platforms and enterprise identity solutions.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant experience in software engineering.
  • Secret security clearance
