Job Title

Tech Lead Software Engineering Sr Advisor I

About your role:

You will lead software engineering strategy and execution for the Issuer Solutions portfolio by designing scalable patterns, advancing engineering standards, and enabling durable modernization across mainframe and distributed platforms. You will work with engineering teams, enterprise platform partners, and senior technical leaders to improve quality, reliability, and delivery outcomes. Your work helps teams adopt practical innovation, including artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted engineering, in ways that support business goals and client needs.

What you'll do:

  • Set and evolve engineering standards across the portfolio, including code quality, architecture patterns, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices, and application security controls.
  • Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical design consultations for teams building with Java, Spring, .NET, Angular, Python, and related technologies.
  • Define reusable engineering patterns, reference implementations, and technical decision frameworks that teams can adopt across multiple products and delivery environments.
  • Translate enterprise platform direction from cloud engineering, security, and AI enablement teams into actionable guidance for software delivery teams.
  • Champion adoption of AI-assisted engineering workflows by evaluating tools, leading pilots, and coaching teams on measurable use cases that improve quality and throughput.
  • Remain hands-on by prototyping solutions, building internal tools, and contributing to critical-path engineering work when needed to reduce delivery risk or accelerate execution.
  • Drive measurable improvements in code quality, defect escape rate, lead time, resiliency, and production stability through tooling, process improvement, and technical coaching.
  • Mentor senior engineers and build communities of practice that strengthen architectural consistency, production ownership, and cross-team engineering alignment.
  • Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.

Experience you'll need to have:

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering across enterprise applications using mainframe and distributed technologies, including COBOL, Java, and service-based architectures.
  • 8+ years of experience modernizing and integrating legacy platforms with microservices, application programming interfaces (APIs), event-driven architectures, and hybrid cloud environments.
  • 8+ years of experience building and improving CI/CD, DevOps, and application operations practices, including monitoring, incident management, batch processing, performance tuning, and production support for mission-critical systems.
  • 8+ years of experience in cloud-native and containerized environments using OpenShift and at least one major cloud platform such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • 8+ years of experience working with relational and NoSQL databases in support of scalable, reliable enterprise applications and platform modernization efforts.
  • Experience evaluating and applying AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering quality, delivery throughput, and developer workflows at scale.
  • Experience applying application security practices across mainframe and distributed platforms, including encryption, access control, secrets management, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.

Experience that would be great to have:

  • Experience supporting issuer processing, payments, or financial technology platforms in a regulated environment.
  • Experience creating portfolio-level reference architectures and engineering enablement materials for broad adoption across multiple teams.
  • Experience delivering technical workshops, engineering training, or developer enablement programs.
  • Experience with Angular, .NET, and Python in multi-stack enterprise environments.

How you'll work:

This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.

Travel: This role requires regular travel (10 - 25%).

Sponsorship:

Individuals with temporary visas including, but not limited to, F-1 (OPT, CPT, STEM), H-1B, H-2, or TN, or any candidate requiring sponsorship, now or in the future, will not be considered for this role.

Benefits at Fiserv:

  • Fuel Your Life program to support your physical, financial, social, and emotional well-being.
  • Paid holidays and generous time away policies.
  • No-cost mental health support through Employee Assistance Programs.
  • Living Proof program to recognize your peers' extra effort with points redeemable for rewards.
  • Eight Employee Resource Groups to foster a collaborative culture and expand your network.
  • Unparalleled professional growth with training, development, and internal mobility opportunities.
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance options available from day one.
