Job Description

The Senior Accountant will serve as key member of the Controllership organization within the Media Group. The Media Group includes the best brands in the industry, including the NBC broadcast network, Peacock, and Bravo. This role provides an outstanding opportunity to learn about the entertainment television and streaming businesses and be a change agent. The position will report to the Director, Accounting, and will work closely with the Media Group finance team and collaborate with Controllership across the NBCUniversal portfolio.

This role will support standardizing existing processes, identifying business process efficiencies, implementing best practices and more. This position will need to work as a member of a cohesive team that can successfully strive to meet tight deadlines and respond quickly to changes in the business environment. 

Here you can:

  • Prepare and record accurate and timely journal entries within SAP
  • Assist with month-end and quarter-end accounting close to ensure deadlines are met and all items are recorded
  • Assemble monthly balance sheet account reconciliations in Blackline
  • Partner with Manager to account for CIP and Fixed Assets by creating projects, placing assets into service, and ensuring depreciation expense and ending balances are accurately recorded
  • Partnering with UK finance team to verify monthly cost transfers, intercompany elimination, transfer pricing and invoice generation for cash settlement
  • Work alongside Finance to summarize billing data for platform revenues and generate invoices within SAP
  • Foreign currency impact and analysis, specifically between GBP and USD
  • Finance support for cost analysis, including financial walks, what-if scenarios and other ad-hoc requests
  • Support the Media Group finance team in all planning processes, including Long Range Planning, Annual Budgets and Operator Reviews
  • Support business process by partnering with other departments, including but not limited to FP&A, Accounts payable, treasury, tax, human resources, IT, and legal
  • Support ad hoc data requests, deliverables and other controllership deadlines
  • Continually improve business processes through automation, thoughtful analysis and researching or benchmarking best practices inside and outside of the company
  • Assist process owners in documentation of SOX controls
Qualifications

Here you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 3+ years of accounting experience; CPA or on track
  • Public accounting experienced preferred
  • Proven ability to work independently, execute well, and thrive in a fast-paced environment 
  • Detail oriented and a quick learner
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to think critically and research ad hoc accounting issues
  • Problem solving skills, ability to dig into problems and drive resolutions
  • Solid analytical skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills

This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
