Senior Accountant | Hybrid | Long Island or Brooklyn, NY
Growing Nonprofit Organization Seeking Experienced Senior Accountant
A well-established nonprofit organization serving children, youth, and families across New York City and Long Island is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its expanding Finance & Accounting team. This is a newly created position reporting directly to the Controller and offers excellent exposure to nonprofit financial operations, government contract reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Compensation & Schedule
$90,000 - $100,000 (depending on experience)
Hybrid Schedule - 1 day/week in office
Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and management reporting packages
  • Perform month-end and year-end close activities
  • Treasury management and cash reporting
  • Bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Prepare CFR workpapers and complete New York State CFR filings
  • Support annual audits and Form 990 preparation
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and internal controls
  • Partner with program and contracts teams regarding government-funded programs and reimbursements
  • Assist with consolidated financial reporting
Qualifications
✔ 5+ years of nonprofit accounting experience
✔ Strong experience with NYS CFR reporting
✔ Knowledge of government contracts and reimbursement funding
✔ Experience preparing and managing program budgets
✔ Treasury management, financial statement preparation, audit support, and bank reconciliations
✔ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
✔ Advanced Excel skills
✔ Experience with Sage Intacct and Martus is a plus
