Job Duties and Responsibilities

Boost Mobile is seeking a Network Engineer to support the routing infrastructure behind its nationwide 5G network. The selected candidate will directly contribute to the success of the 5G network, enabling the connectivity that powers millions of customers across the U.S. As part of the Network Engineering team, this role activates new network devices and routing on a multi–100G backbone through hands-on configuration and automation. This position provides advanced support for technologies such as BGP, MPLS, Segment Routing, EVPN, and dark fiber transport while collaborating with teams supporting evolving 5G and cloud infrastructure.

What Success Looks Like (Objectives):

  • Design, deploy, and automate large-scale network infrastructure supporting the 5G core and transport network
  • Troubleshoot complex routing, configuration, and connectivity issues, clearly communicating findings and potential solutions
  • Develop and document network requirements, activation procedures, and service specifications
  • Execute network testing, validation, and integration plans while ensuring ongoing network reliability and integrity
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal partners to evaluate, test, and resolve hardware and software issues
Skills, Experience and Requirements

Core Skills and Competencies (What you’ll bring):

  • Strong knowledge of routing and switching technologies including BGP, ISIS, MPLS, Segment Routing, and EVPN
  • Familiarity with automation, scripting tools such as Python or Ansible, and emerging AI application frameworks for network optimization
  • Working knowledge of transport technologies such as dark fiber, optical networking, and high-capacity Ethernet
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills alongside a strong capacity for collaborative problem solving
  • Familiarity with cloud networking concepts within AWS, Azure, GCP, or private cloud environments
  • Critical experiences configuring and troubleshooting Cisco network devices in a wireless carrier or large service provider environment

Additional Qualifications:

  • Industry certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent
  • Experience with network monitoring and telemetry tools

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 2 years of experience in network engineering, operations, or design in a service provider or large-scale enterprise environment
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience with:
    • Cisco network devices
    • Routing and switching protocols (BGP, ISIS, or MPLS)
