Job description

Reliability Engineer - (Pivotal Systems)
Position Summary
The Reliability Engineer is responsible for developing and executing reliability programs for semiconductor process control products and components. This role works closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to improve product reliability, identify failure mechanisms, and drive corrective and preventive actions throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute reliability test plans for new and existing products (includes supplier parts like PCBA, Pressure Transducers, Piezo and system level reliability).
  • Analyze product failures and determine root causes using structured methodologies.
  • Perform reliability modeling and statistical analysis to predict product life and performance.
  • Lead or support Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), reliability growth testing, and qualification activities.
  • Develop accelerated life testing (ALT) and environmental stress screening procedures.
  • Monitor field performance data and identify reliability improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supplier teams to resolve quality and reliability issues.
  • Support supplier qualification and incoming material reliability assessments.
  • Generate reliability reports, metrics, and recommendations for management and engineering teams.
  • Participate in change control reviews and assess the impact of design or process changes on reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards and industry requirements.
  • Ensure design for reliability (DFx) inputs are provided during the product development phases, taking inputs from field failures, historical information, DFMEA, customer requirements.
  • Ensure customer targets / requirements for product reliability and testing are met, along with applicable industry standard requirements like SEMI.
  • Ensures necessary resources including personnel, test equipment, facility related are highlighted during product development phase.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-7+ years of experience in reliability engineering, quality engineering, or product engineering.
  • Experience with reliability testing and failure analysis.
  • Knowledge of statistical tools such as Minitab, JMP, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with reliability methodologies including:
    • FMEA
    • Root Cause Analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone)
    • Weibull Analysis
    • Reliability Growth Analysis
    • Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • ASQ certified Reliability Engineer

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in semiconductor equipment, electronics, or precision manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
