Job description

Responsibilities:

โ€ข Selects type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and valves, according to job specifications.
โ€ข Assists foreman in planning the sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers.
โ€ข Cuts pipe using a pipe cutter, pipe saw, power tools (band saw), and pipe cutting machine.
โ€ข Threads pipe using threading machine.
โ€ข Knowledge in safe operation of Victaulic roll grooving and cut groove operations.
โ€ข Mounts pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceiling to hold pipe.
โ€ข Assembles and installs a variety of metal or nonmetal pipes and pipe fittings, using threaded, wrapped, soldering, brazen, fused, or cemented joints, and hand tools.
โ€ข Secures pipes to structure with bracket, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools.
โ€ข Knowledge in safe and professional testing of piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks.
โ€ข Observes and complies with all safety and project rules and all company policies and procedures.
โ€ข Has working knowledge of working around heavy machinery to include hydraulic and lattice cranes.
โ€ข Ability to rig and signal loads as required.
โ€ข Ability to set and align process equipment like pumps and blowers.
โ€ข Conducts field layout of the piping system and calculates offsets, miters, and fittings as required.
โ€ข Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
โ€ข Always attentive to detail and alert to ensure safety.
โ€ข Ability to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers.
โ€ข Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines.
โ€ข Ability to read drawings including but not limited to pipe shop drawings, mechanical drawings, and P&ID's
โ€ข Excellent physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy objects.
