Self Defense Remote information

What is a self defense remote?

A Self Defense Remote is typically a portable electronic device designed to help individuals protect themselves from potential threats. These devices often include features such as panic alarms, stun gun capabilities, or emergency alert systems that can be activated remotely. The purpose is to provide a discreet and accessible way to deter attackers or call for help in dangerous situations. Self Defense Remotes are useful for personal safety and are commonly used by people who want an added layer of security, especially when alone or in unfamiliar areas.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a self defense remote?

To thrive as a Self Defense Instructor (Remote), you need expertise in martial arts or self-defense techniques, a relevant certification (such as Krav Maga, Tae Kwon Do, or equivalent), and experience in coaching or teaching. Familiarity with video conferencing platforms, online training modules, and digital assessment tools is essential for remote instruction. Strong communication, motivational skills, and the ability to adapt teaching methods for diverse learners set outstanding instructors apart. These skills ensure effective virtual instruction, student engagement, and the safe, practical application of self-defense techniques.

How does a remote self-defense instructor effectively engage and assess students' progress during virtual sessions?

As a remote self-defense instructor, maintaining student engagement and accurately assessing progress can be challenging without physical presence. To address this, instructors often use high-quality video demonstrations, interactive drills, and real-time feedback through video conferencing. Regular assessments, such as skill demonstrations or scenario-based role plays, help track each student's development. Additionally, fostering a supportive online community and encouraging questions or peer interaction can significantly enhance the learning experience and retention.

  • You are organized, detail-oriented, analytical, and adaptable. You are engaged by developing creative and bespoke solutions.
  • You value technology as a tool not an obstacle.
  • You understand the value of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and beyond.
  • You are inspired by change and want to disrupt the status quo.

What you have

  • Outstanding communication skills and can communicate solutions, obstacles, and ideas clearly, consistently, and professionally.
  • A strong work ethic, which allows you to work independently and multi-task to accomplish defined goals.
  • The ability to steer and maintain a full litigation workload, with a consistently growing ability to plan and execute defense strategies in complex cases, including management of expert witnesses and third-party practice;
  • Exceptional brief writing skills;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Self-motivation and independence, including the ability to work full-time in a remote environment efficiently and independently;
  • Critical thinking capabilities, with a mindset that produces innovative solutions;
  • The ability to communicate effectively in-person, via video, over the phone, and in writing.
  • Versatile problem-solving abilities;
  • Self-motivation and independence;
  • Adaptability in a fluid and dynamic work environment;
  • A passion for excellence in the practice of law;
  • An active license to practice law in good standing;
  • At least 5 years of litigation experience;

What you will do

  • Preparation and participation in depositions and corresponding preparatory sessions;
  • Attending court proceedings and conducting oral argument in procedural, discovery, pre-trial, and other substantive hearings;
  • Drafting reporting and analytical correspondence to clients and counsel; and
  • Preparing mediation statements and attending settlement conferences.

Where you will work

  • As a cloud-based firm, Z&A operates under a fully remote model; our structure provides the flexibility to manage your caseload from anywhere.
  • Attorneys based outside of Colorado are encouraged to apply for this position as well.
  • If you are not currently licensed in Colorado, you will be required to obtain a license to practice law in Colorado before starting this position.
    • Per Colorado law, this will not require a bar exam if:
      • You hold a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and have been licensed for five years, having practiced in the last three years immediately preceding the date of the application.
      • You complete the application process;
      • You meet any other state-specific criteria, including taking and passing the MPRE.
      • For more information regarding the application process and requirements, please visit: On Motion - Colorado Supreme Court
  • You will be provided a Z&A computer configured to seamlessly integrated with our Cloud-based practice systems and resources.
  • While most work can be performed remotely, there may be occasional travel required to Colorado for depositions, trial, in-person court-mandated hearings or other events.
  • This remote working model is ideal for experienced insurance litigation defense attorneys seeking a flexible and dynamic work environment.

    Who you will work with

    You will work alongside the Managing Partner, Muliha Khan, and our Team of accomplished attorneys and legal and administrative professionals. You will coordinate and lead your own Litigation Teams to drive the litigation process forward and advocate for the Firm’s clients.

    What you will earn

    Z&A has a non-traditional attorney compensation structure, designed to ensure that hard-working attorneys are compensated for every hour they bill. Z&A maintains no billable-hour requirement and trusts its attorneys to perform the work necessary to progress their caseload, paying them for each hour they spend doing so. This structure promotes flexibility and allows each attorney to determine their own schedule and workload. An attorney billing between 1700 and 2000 hours a year can expect to earn between $110,000 and $140,000 in compensation. Benefits include 168 hours of paid holiday and personal time off per year; firm-paid 401k contributions; 100% employer-paid high-quality health and dental insurance; life insurance; optional vision and short-term disability insurance at employer-sponsored rates. Flexible and non-traditional scheduling are available.

    As a cloud-based firm, Z&A operates under a fully remote model.

    How you will grow

    Z&A is a growing firm that seeks to disrupt the current civil litigation defense industry and change the way law is practiced and law firms are run in Colorado. We believe—and are continuing to prove, year after year—that a better work environment, better professional relationships, and better management consistently produce the best work and best results for our clients. You will be an integral part of a Team that is working to push the limits and capabilities of a small Firm. You will be given the opportunity to hone your legal, professional, business development, and interpersonal skills while working alongside the core team developing and growing the Firm. You will have the support to develop outside-the-box solutions to traditional and contemporary legal challenges. You will have the opportunity to work with a brilliant and high-achieving legal team, and as your career with the Firm develops, you will receive support and guidance toward achieving your own professional goals.
