Job description

Role Overview

As a Design Consultant for Budget Blinds, you are the face of the #1 window covering franchise in North America. You will travel to residential and commercial properties across Ocala and surrounding areas to provide expert consultations. This isn't just about selling blinds; it’s about "designing a lifestyle" by helping Florida homeowners find the perfect balance of style, light control, and energy efficiency (crucial for the Florida sun!).

This position is commission-only and we offer 401k and profit-sharing!

Key Responsibilities

  • In-Home Consultations: Conduct 2–4 pre-scheduled daily appointments. Use our professional sample kits to help clients select blinds, shades, shutters, draperies, and smart-home automation.

Precision Measurement: Take accurate window measurements to ensure a perfect fit for custom manufacturing.

  • Quote & Close: Use our proprietary iPad/web-based quoting system to provide instant, on-site estimates and confidently close the sale during the initial visit.

Lead Management: While leads are often provided, you will proactively follow up on pending quotes and network within the community to generate referrals.

  • Collaboration: Communicate clearly with the Office Coordinator and Installation Team to ensure a seamless transition from "Sold" to "Installed."

  • Stay Current: Attend weekly sales meetings and keep up with the latest trends in Florida interior design and smart-home technology.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Sales Instinct: Minimum 2 years of retail or outside sales experience (In-home sales or home improvement experience is a major plus).

  • Design Eye: A natural "flair" for color, texture, and style. You should be able to visualize what looks best in a customer’s space.

  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using a CRM, email, and digital quoting tools on a tablet or laptop.

  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills—you must be professional, well-spoken, and able to build rapport quickly with diverse Florida homeowners.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to climb a 6-foot ladder to measure windows and lift sample cases weighing up to 30 lbs.

  • Clean Record: Valid Florida Driver’s License and a clean driving record (required for the company vehicle). Ability to pass a background check.
