Job Summary
Cleans and services Hospital building areas and performs a variety of housekeeping duties to maintain the Hospital in an orderly and sanitary condition.
Essential Functions

  • Cleans assigned areas by washing furnishings, floors and equipment with special cleaning solutions and disinfectants to prevent spread of disease.
  • Cleans floors by sweeping, mopping, wet-washing and vacuuming. Periodically polishes floors using buffing machine and floor finish.
  • Washes walls, ceilings, vents and inside windows with cleaning solution.
  • Cleans windowsills, blinds and furniture with dust cloth and vacuum.
  • Empties trash baskets. Gathers and disposes of trash, washes wastepaper baskets and large refuse containers and relines with paper or plastic bag.
  • Scours and polishes sinks, tubs, mirrors and other plumbing fixtures.
  • Replaces disposables such as towels, soap and toilet paper, including those pertaining to water cooler.
  • Hangs draperies, Venetian blinds and shades.
  • Turns and changes mattresses on beds.
  • Selects and transports materials and supplies needed for work assignment from supply room. At completion of assignment, returns unused supplies to utility room and leaves soiled linen and trash in designated areas. Notifies Supervisor when supplies are low.
  • Reports any mechanical failures or negative conditions as observed in assigned area for preparation of work order for Maintenance Department.
  • Performs set ups for conference and meetings--this includes arrangement of necessary furniture.
  • Perform relocation and moves of offices, furniture and other physical items requiring relocation within the facility.
  • Strips and refinishes V.C.T. floors as directed by Supervisor.
  • Shampoos carpet as directed by Supervisor.
  • Practices Universal Precautions.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate with pediatric, adolescent, young adult and geriatric patients and visitors.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Demonstrates ability to read and comprehend English
  • Ability to work with other staff and patients.
  • Standing and/or walking most of the day
  • Sometimes lifting objects up to 50 lbs

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 4pm-12pm. Must be able to work every other weekend.
