Both roles require geophysical knowledge but differ in their primary responsibilities and work environments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Seismic Data Management professional, and why are they important?

To thrive in Seismic Data Management, you need a solid understanding of geophysics, data management principles, and geological data systems, often supported by a degree in geosciences or related fields. Familiarity with industry-standard software such as Petrel, OpenWorks, and data QC tools, as well as knowledge of data standards like SEG-Y, is typically required. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication are essential soft skills for ensuring data integrity and collaborating with geoscientists and engineers. These competencies are crucial for maintaining high-quality seismic datasets, which directly impact exploration success and resource evaluation in the energy industry.

What are the typical responsibilities of a Seismic Data Management professional on a daily basis?

Seismic Data Management professionals are responsible for organizing, archiving, and maintaining large volumes of seismic data to ensure its quality, accessibility, and security. On a daily basis, they oversee data loading, quality control, metadata management, and the transfer of seismic datasets between teams or software platforms. They collaborate closely with geophysicists, data analysts, and IT personnel to support exploration projects and ensure efficient data workflows. Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills are essential for handling data discrepancies and optimizing storage solutions.

What is Seismic Data Management?

Seismic Data Management refers to the processes and technologies used to collect, store, organize, and retrieve seismic data, which is primarily used in the oil and gas industry for exploration and production purposes. Effective seismic data management ensures that massive datasets from seismic surveys are accessible, secure, and usable for interpretation and analysis. Professionals in this field work to maintain data quality, facilitate data sharing, and comply with regulatory requirements. This role is critical for supporting exploration geoscientists and maximizing the value of seismic investments.

Job description

Overview
The Manager, Global Demo Engineering leads the Global PreSales (GPS) team within the Sales Engineering organization. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role responsible for designing, building, and scaling the demo environments, automation tooling, and technical infrastructure that enable the SE team to deliver outstanding, customer-facing demonstrations of the Seismic platform.
The GPS team sits at the intersection of Sales Engineering, Product, Product Marketing, and Engineering. This leader is responsible for reducing the time Sales Engineers spend on demo preparation, increasing the quality and consistency of buyer experiences, and ensuring that demo capabilities keep pace with Seismic's product innovation, including our rapidly expanding AI portfolio.
Preferred location for this position is Boston, MA or EST time zone.
Who you are:
  • 3 or more years of experience in presales, solutions engineering, or technical sales enablement at a B2B SaaS company, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated, hands-on experience with demo automation technology and platforms, including designing, configuring, and scaling demo environments for enterprise go-to-market motions.
  • Fluency in enterprise AI concepts, including agentic AI, AI orchestration, governance frameworks, and the practical application of AI in sales and marketing technology.
  • Proven project management skills, including the ability to run multiple concurrent workstreams, manage cross-functional dependencies, and deliver on time in a fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical material clearly to both technical and executive audiences.
  • Strong analytical mindset, with experience defining and tracking KPIs related to demo utilization, SE efficiency, and buyer experience outcomes.
  • Experience working across product, engineering, and marketing organizations, with a track record of building productive cross-functional relationships.
  • Knowledge of SaaS architecture, integration models, and enterprise buying cycles, with specific experience in sales or marketing technology considered a strong advantage.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.

What you'll be doing:
Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of demo engineers, setting clear goals and creating a culture of quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner closely with SE leadership to align the GPS roadmap with go-to-market priorities and the SE team's most pressing needs.
  • Serve as a visible advocate for the GPS function across the organization, communicating progress, impact, and investment needs to senior stakeholders.

Demo Environment Strategy and Ownership
  • Own the strategy, architecture, and maintenance of Seismic's demo environments, ensuring they accurately and compellingly represent the platform across all target verticals and buyer personas.
  • Maintain a demo environment roadmap aligned with the product release schedule and sales training calendar, so that new capabilities reach the field quickly and with high quality.
  • Establish and run a disciplined maintenance cadence, keeping environments current, stable, and stocked with realistic, segment-specific data.

Demo Automation and Tooling
  • Evaluate, select, implement, and continuously improve the demo automation platforms and tooling that the SE organization relies on to scale buyer interactions.
  • Drive adoption of automation best practices across the SE team, targeting a meaningful improvement in the prep-to-production ratio so SEs can spend more time in front of customers.
  • Champion a consistent, persona-driven demo narrative across all automation assets, reducing variance in buyer experience and strengthening the SE team's collective story.

AI Integration and Innovation
  • Lead the integration of AI capabilities into the GPS team's demo environments and tooling, ensuring Seismic's agentic AI features are showcased with accuracy, depth, and strategic framing.
  • Stay current with enterprise AI trends and translate relevant developments into actionable improvements to the team's demo approach and infrastructure.
  • Partner with the SE team and Product Marketing to ensure AI-driven demo narratives reflect Seismic's differentiated positioning in the market.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Product Management to understand the product roadmap and ensure demo environments reflect upcoming capabilities ahead of general availability.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing to align demo narratives with external messaging and campaign priorities.
  • Work with the Engineering organization to ensure accurate representation of platform architecture and integration capabilities in customer-facing materials.
  • Support Customer Success and Learning Services with demo assets and environments for onboarding, enablement, and expansion conversations.

Program and Project Management
  • Build and manage the GPS project portfolio, including environment builds, tooling implementations, and enablement initiatives, with clear timelines, owners, and success criteria.
  • Identify and resolve cross-functional dependencies early, escalating risks proactively and keeping stakeholders informed of progress.
  • Define and track key performance indicators for demo utilization, SE efficiency, and buyer experience quality, using data to guide prioritization and investment decisions.
