Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:ย  To assist the Library Media Specialist in carrying out the routines of the library media program operation.

PAY GRADE:ย  N- 190 - Grade 04ย - Salary Range:ย  $24,300.00 to $36,893.00.ย Salary placement will be based on the Douglas County Board of Education-approved salary schedules and years of verified experience.

FLSA STATUS:ย  Non-Exempt

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:ย  190 Days (10 Months)

REPORTS TO:ย  Library Media Specialist

EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:ย  Minimum High School Diploma.

EXPERIENCE:ย  One year of successful general office experience.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:ย  None

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:ย  Sedentary work:ย  Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; sedentary work involves sitting most of the time; jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

PROFICIENT SKILLS:ย  Communicates effectively with the public both orally and in writing; has the ability to use or the aptitude to learn technology applications used in library and office settings; has strong clerical skills (typing/keyboarding, filing, performing basic mathematical functions, etc.)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:ย ย 

  1. Performs clerical and secretarial work.
  2. Performs routine library functions.
  3. Assists students and staff in any manner needed in the Media Center.
  4. Assists in preparing bulletin boards and displays.
  5. Maintains library media center records.
  6. Helps students and staff locate materials.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.
