Software Engineer III Overview We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer II to support the design, development, testing, and maintenance of secure software solutions in a dynamic DoD environment. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and debugging software applications, implementing cybersecurity best practices, and supporting modern software development methodologies including Agile and DevSecOps.

This role requires a strong technical background, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across engineering and cybersecurity teams to deliver secure, mission-critical solutions Key Responsibilities * Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and services in support of mission requirements * Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) using Agile and DevSecOps methodologies * Perform software debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis to resolve technical issues * Implement and maintain Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to ensure system compliance and security hardening * Utilize code analysis and scanning tools to identify vulnerabilities, improve code quality, and support secure coding practices * Collaborate with engineers, cybersecurity personnel, system administrators, and project stakeholders to deliver secure and scalable solutions * Support software integration, configuration management, and deployment activities * Develop and maintain technical documentation, code comments, and software artifacts * Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies, standards, and accreditation requirements * Participate in testing, validation, and continuous process improvement initiatives Required Qualifications Education / Certification * Minimum certification as 621 (or similar as required by the Technical Instruction) at the Intermediate level per DoDD 8140.01 (or successor) * All personnel performing as Privileged Users must possess and maintain a final adjudicated Tier 5 security investigation with an IT Level I designation in JPAS and/or DISS Experience * Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Software Development * Demonstrated experience implementing STIGs and secure configuration practices * Knowledge of software development methodologies including Agile and DevSecOps * Demonstrated experience debugging software applications and resolving technical issues * Demonstrated experience utilizing code analysis and software scanning tools Preferred Qualifications * Experience supporting DoD or federal government environments * Familiarity with secure software development and cybersecurity best practices * Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems * Knowledge of vulnerability remediation and secure coding standards * Strong written and verbal communication skills Clearance Requirement * Active Tier 5 investigation with IT Level I designation required * Ability to maintain eligibility within JPAS/DISS environments Work Location * Virginia Beach VA If you thrive on solving complex problems and building meaningful connections, we'd love to hear from you.
