Position Summary:

KBR, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineer to support the Air Force's Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) Division. You will be responsible for providing expert-level software engineering and test and evaluation guidance on this complex program. As part of your duties, you will ensure ABMS product lines are interoperable across the DAF BATTLE NETWORK as well as ensuring their interfaces to other service, DoD and Intelligence Community (IC) efforts in support of Joint All Domian Command and Control (JADC2) are engineered to ensure interoperability across joint and coalition forces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities associated with the design, development, implementation, maintenance, configuration management and quality control of software for scientific/engineering applications
  • Define system and software requirements and obtain customer approval
  • Analyze customer requirements and translate them into a design
  • Create prototypes
  • Implement Agile development tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket/Git to manage work and collaborate with your teams.
  • Identify potential roadblocks and develop software solutions where the solution is not always well defined.
  • Work to improve performance metrics through critical planning and execution of development tasks.
  • Respond to and resolves software discrepancies against documented requirements
  • Collaborate with a team to define software requirements
  • Generate program design language and code based on department standards
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy software systems for our customers
  • Determine software maintainability and overall adherence to user requirements on department standards
  • Generate/update documents defining software product baselines
  • Explore new areas or program in new languages to deliver a complete product
  • Support on-site meetings and deliveries to customers
  • Lead junior engineers
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Work Environment:

  • Location: On-site (Beavercreek, OH)
  • Travel Requirements: Moderate 20-40%
  • Working Hours: Standard - Core hours 0900 - 1500

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering and/or test and evaluation with a specific focus on Air Force acquisition programs or similar DoD systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage software requirements verification and validation activities
  • Demonstrated ability to lead planning and execution events.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop/manage JIRA boards.
  • Experience leading scrums/project management, and tasking.
  • Understanding the complexities of multi-domain engineering.
  • Expertise in software integration and testing.
  • Experience with prototyping and experimentation within the DoD or IC.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools and technologies commonly used in Air Force and DoD acquisition programs, such as model based systems engineering, risk management, requirements management, project scheduling, and software backlog management tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex security concepts to program managers, contractors, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines within the DoD acquisition environment.
  • Ability to navigate the complexities of military contracting processes and collaborate with defense contractors to ensure compliance with Air Force security requirements.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI and SAP eligibility

Desired:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in Special Access and/or SCI programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently or as a team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects to closure and to assimilate and correlate project information in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with technical and non-technical project teams.
  • Experience acquiring and/or testing command and control or battle management systems.
  • Experience integrating weapon systems into a system of systems.
  • Experience with AFSIT and JITC certification testing.

Certifications:

  • Highly Preferred: DAWIA Engineering and Technology Management Practitioner or DAWIA Test and Evaluation Practitioner or Equivalent
