THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELL

SciensBuilding Solutionsis seeking anexperiencedSecurity Service Technicianwithprogramming, troubleshooting, and repair capabilitiesand experience.This position will work closely with our service team and clients to ensure our critical life safety systems are repaired in an efficient manner tomaintaintheir overall performance.This is a key position for our growing team and requires attention to detail in all aspects of system troubleshooting and repair. Customer and employee interfacerequiresa high degree of effective human relations. Communication skills, both written and verbal, areimportant elementsof the position.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (and doing well!)

  • Troubleshoot and repair security systems including analog, IP, addressable, and networked solutions.

  • Program andmaintainintermediate equipment and systems including intrusion detection, video surveillance, asset protection, environmental detection, holdup/duress, integratedsystemsand equipment related to the alarmmonitoringstation.

  • Use a variety of troubleshooting tools to analyze systems and detect fault conditions.

  • Produce repair reportsin accordance withbest practices for customer acceptance and billing information.

  • Produce field surveys and daily project logs of activity.

  • Responsible for complex troubleshooting and effective resolution.

  • Responsible for programming systems via laptop computers.

  • Assistin the oversight of project and vehicle inventory.

  • Provide support, guidance, andexpertiseto other technicians.

  • Take ownership of onsiteprojectsincluding safety, quality, and performance.

  • Train and develop other Service Technicians on equipment and company policies and procedures.

  • Provide technical support to end users and technicians whenrequired.

  • Comply withindustry standard procedures andScienssafety programs/policies.

WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOU!

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Two to five(2-5) yearsof experience in atechnicianrole within thebuildingsecuritysystemsindustry.

  • Knowledge of current security systems including access control, IP video, and voice and data systems.

  • Intermediate understanding ofsecuritysystem integrity and how totroubleshoot forcircuit opens, shorts, or ground conditions.

  • Independent ability to program multiplemanufacturer'sadvanced system product platform(s)/graphical systems.

  • Ability to program and troubleshoot mid-range to complex security systems.

  • Ability todemonstrateproper operation of equipment and control units to customers and explain how it is to be used, and how to respond to any system signals.

  • Intermediate knowledge of NPFA 70 and 731 for testing and maintenance of security systems.

  • State, local, contract, and/or product specific certificationsdeterminedby the business.

  • Knowledge of state fire procedures, filing, and requirements.

  • Ability to read fire and security system design drawings.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and with a sense of urgency.

  • Ability to work independently with some supervision.

  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards andableto obtain OSHA 10certification.

  • Customer-focused; skilled in projectand peoplemanagement.

  • Proficient in issue resolution.

  • Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.

  • Be physically fit to perform the demanding work of the trade, including frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds, maximum occasionallifting upto 50pounds;able to work from heights and climbladders;standing and walking for most of the workday.

  • Ability to travel occasionally overnight, as needed.

  • Able to pass background check and pre-employment drug screening.

  • Valid driver's license & reliable transportation.
