We are seeking an experienced and strategic Security Operations Center (SOC) Manager to lead our SOC team in Minneapolis. This role is responsible for overseeing a team of Operators and Analysts, managing crises, and ensuring the effective execution of security operations. The SOC Manager will serve as the leader of day-to-day operations, manage team performance, and coordinate operational handoffs with global partners. Additionally, the role includes executing onboarding processes and overseeing training programs to maintain a high level of operational readiness.

This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Saturday - Sunday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 6am - 7pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. 

We offer weeks of paid training. The hours of training will be based on your schedule or will be discussed on your first day of employment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of SOC Operators and Analysts, ensuring effective monitoring and response to security events.
  • Oversee crisis management efforts, including coordination with internal stakeholders during critical incidents.
  • Communicate regularly with department leadership to provide updates on security posture, incidents, and operational metrics.
  • Manage team performance through regular evaluations, coaching, and development plans.
  • Coordinate operations handoff to global security partners to ensure continuity and coverage across time zones.
  • Execute onboarding processes for new SOC personnel, ensuring alignment with operational standards and protocols.
  • Oversee training programs to maintain and enhance the skills and capabilities of the SOC team.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations related to security operations.
  • Support executive protection and event security planning as needed.
  • Work a rotating weekend schedule with two other managers to support 7-day operating model.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 3+ years of experience in a SOC, intelligence, or corporate security role, with at least 2+ years in a leadership capacity
  • Experience in crisis management and incident response
  • Understanding of OSINT tools, platforms, and methodologies
  • Leadership, communication, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with discretion and professionalism
  • Ability to work in our office at Optum Headquarters - Eden Prairie, MN (In-person, On-site)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as ASIS CPP, PCI, or similar
  • Experience supporting executive protection or event security operations
  • Experience with performance management and team development
  • Knowledge of travel risk management platforms and global threat landscapes
  • Familiarity with global security operations and communication

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from  $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
