Join BAE Systems' award-winning security team at Electronic Systems (ES) as a Physical Security Manager. Responsible for leading the day to day execution, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the organization's enterprise physical security program. Reporting to the Director of Security Operations, this position provides operational leadership of the organizations physical security systems and supporting infrastructure, including electronic security technologies, identity management, and physical protective measures that safeguard company personnel, facilities and critical assets.
The role manages a team of security technology professionals responsible for system administration, alarm maintenance, badging operations, video surveillance, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and project implementation across over sixty (60) facilities.
The Physical Security Manager ensures security technologies operate reliably, meet operational requirements, and support the organization's mission while maintaining compliance with applicable regulatory and contractual requirements.
This position serves as the primary physical security subject matter expert (SME) collaborating with Facilities, Information Technology and other cross functional business partners, ensuring security requirements are incorporated into capital projects, renovations, infrastructure improvements, and new construction. The manager translates strategic objectives into operational execution by leading security technology projects, managing capital expenditures, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and developing a high performing technical workforce.
  • Lead, coach, develop and manage a team of alarm technicians, badge administration personnel and video surveillance technicians
  • Establish performance expectations, provide coaching and performance feedback, and foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety and continuous improvement
  • Manage the daily operation, maintenance, and administration of enterprise Access Control System (ACS), Intrusion Detection System (IDS), Video Management System (VMS) and identify management systems
  • Ensure the reliability, availability, and lifecycle management of physical security technology through preventative maintenance, system monitoring, trouble shooting and vendor coordination
  • Manage badge administration processes, physical access authorization, credential lifecycle management, and associated security policies
  • Plan and execute physical security technology projects including system upgrades, facility expansions, renovations and new construction initiatives
  • Support the development and execution of capital investment plans and operating budgets for security technology
  • Coordinate contractors, security integrators, vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company standards
  • Serve as the physical security subject matter expert in collaboration with cross functional partners
  • Review construction drawings, renovation plans, and facility design to ensure compliance with physical security standards and policy
  • Develop and maintain documentation including system configurations, asset inventories, maintenance records, drawings and standard operating procedures
  • Monitor operational performance, identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend technology enhancements that improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Prepare executive level reports, project updates, operational metrics, and presentations while translating technical issues into clear business impacts and recommendations
  • Support vendor management activities, including service agreements, preventative maintenance programs, procurement activities and performance management
  • Ensure compliance with applicable company policies, contractual requirements and regulatory standards governing physical security systems and infrastructure

Required Skills and Education
  • Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience supporting enterprise physical security with minimum of a high school diploma and ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Minimum of three years of leadership experience managing technical, operational, or security teams
  • Demonstrated experience administering enterprise access control, intrusion detection and video management systems
  • Experience leading security technology implementation projects and coordinating cross functional stakeholders
  • Experience managing contractors, vendors and system integrators
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated success building coaching and developing high performing teams
  • Strong organizational, project management, and problem solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to establish credibility with both technical employees and senior leadership
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience preparing executive presentations and operational reports
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office applications

Preferred Skills and Education
  • An undergraduate degree in criminal justice, security management, or related field,
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Project Management Professional (PMP), or equivalent professional certification
  • Experience supporting defense, aerospace, manufacturing, or other highly regulated environments
  • Experience with enterprise security platforms such as LenelS2, Genetec, Software House, Milestone, Bosch or similar enterprise systems
  • Familiarity with NISPOM, UL 2050, ICD 705, and other applicable physical security standards
  • Experience supporting multi-site operations with geographically dispersed teams
  • Experience developing capital investment recommendations and supporting long term technology modernization initiatives
  • Knowledge of electronic security system design principles, integrated security technologies, and physical security best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Active Secret security clearance
