Job Overview

Schedule: Every day, 5:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.
Location: Store


Position Summary

We are seeking a professional and dependable Unarmed Security Guard to provide a visible security presence at our store during evening hours. The guard will help maintain a safe, welcoming environment for customers and associates by monitoring the property, deterring unauthorized activity and loitering, assisting with employee escorts, and de-escalating situations calmly and respectfully.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to remain professional and composed in a busy retail environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a visible, professional presence inside and around the store.
  • Conduct regular foot patrols of the store’s exterior, parking areas, entrances, and surrounding property.
  • Deter loitering, disruptive behavior, theft, unauthorized access, and other policy violations through professional communication and observation.
  • Address concerns respectfully and in accordance with store policies and applicable laws.
  • De-escalate tense or disruptive situations and promptly notify store management or law enforcement when appropriate.
  • Help ensure customers and associates feel safe while on the property.
  • Monitor activity around entrances, exits, and other high-traffic areas.
  • Escort employees to the dumpster area whenever they need to take out trash.
  • Escort employees safely to their vehicles at the end of their shifts.
  • Report suspicious activity, incidents, safety hazards, and policy violations to store management.
  • Complete daily activity and incident reports accurately and promptly.
  • Respond to emergencies according to company procedures, including contacting emergency services when necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times.
  • Perform other security-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous security, loss prevention, customer service, military, or law-enforcement experience preferred.
  • Valid security guard license or registration, if required by local or state law.
  • Current guard card and any required certifications preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during difficult situations.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and conduct regular property patrols.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with store management.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and able to pass any required background screening.

Important Expectations

This is an unarmed, customer-facing position. The guard is expected to use observation, communication, prevention, and de-escalation not confrontationvas the primary tools for maintaining safety. The guard must follow all applicable laws, store policies, and company procedures and may not physically remove, detain, or engage with any individual beyond the authority permitted by law and company policy.
