Job description

Security Guard

Provide a safe and welcoming environment to visitors, clients, and staff. Work seamlessly with the clinical treatment team to always ensure the safety of clients. Security Guards may be required to aid clinical treatment staff during but not limited to verbal and physical altercations. Responsible for detecting any suspicious happenings and preventing any criminal behavior.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

  • Six months to two years of experience as a Security Guard or similar role
  • Knowledge of standard security concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Skills: verbal communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, attentive to details

Core Job Duties

  • Conduct continuous and alert preventative patrols of assigned areas.
  • Identify, report, and take corrective action on all conditions which endanger the safety and security of staff, visitors, clients, and property.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras and equipment; inspect buildings, equipment, and access points for security.
  • Complete required documentation of security checks as appropriate.
  • Provide escorts to adjacent areas outside the program for safety.
  • Monitor and screen ingress and egress points of the facility to always maintain security, prevent weapons entry, avoid thefts, and assure confidentiality.
  • Proactively provides customer service to assist guests with questions and directions.
  • Support clinical staff with duties, including applying restraints and using appropriate physical force to overcome resistance, violence, and to comply with necessary clinical directives.
  • Deploy de-escalation routinely and effectively to maintain order and avoid violent outbursts.
  • Cooperate and coordinate with local police, sheriff, fire officials, and other regulatory authorities as necessary/required in the event of an emergency.
  • Adherence to all applicable evidence-based practice models.
  • Orally communicate information effectively and accurately.
  • Assure program operates within the constraints of the agency's certification (CARF, DMH) standards and strategic plan related to clinical care.
  • Abide by program and agency policies and procedures.
  • Other job duties and special projects as assigned.
