Overview Job Summary Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a Cybersecurity Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE), Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support mission-critical operations within classified DoD environments. In this role, you will provide cybersecurity engineering support for classified networks and systems, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical information assets supporting U.S. Space Force missions. You will assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of security solutions that protect against evolving cyber threats. You will support cybersecurity program activities by conducting reviews, tracking action items, and providing recommendations in accordance with Department of the Air Force (DAF), DoD, and Intelligence Community (IC) cybersecurity policies and standards. You will also help ensure compliance with information security requirements and support risk management efforts. As a cybersecurity SME, you will collaborate with program leadership, government stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure security solutions are effectively integrated into existing environments. You will support configuration management processes, evaluate security impacts of system changes, and help maintain compliance while supporting mission objectives. Key Responsibilities The Cybersecurity Information Systems Security Engineer, SME will: * Provide expert cybersecurity engineering and strategic guidance in support of mission-critical DoD and U.S. Space Force programs * Lead the research, design, implementation, and assessment of cybersecurity solutions to meet program requirements and security objectives * Support the integration of security controls and architectures across classified systems and networks * Ensure compliance with Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST, DoD, Department of the Air Force (DAF), and Intelligence Community (IC) cybersecurity requirements * Conduct security assessments, program reviews, and risk analyses, providing recommendations to mitigate vulnerabilities and strengthen security posture * Evaluate technical, schedule, and operational impacts of cybersecurity initiatives and system changes * Support configuration management processes and assess security implications of proposed modifications to systems and architectures * Collaborate with government stakeholders, program leadership, engineers, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of cybersecurity objectives * Track cybersecurity-related action items, compliance activities, and remediation efforts through completion * Prepare and present technical findings, risk assessments, and recommendations to senior leadership and government customers Requirements Skills and Experience The Cybersecurity Information Systems Security Engineer, SME must have: * Active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance * 15+ years of experience supporting cybersecurity, information assurance, or systems security engineering efforts within DoD or Intelligence Community environments * Extensive experience implementing and managing cybersecurity requirements within the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process * Strong knowledge of NIST, DoD, Department of the Air Force (DAF), and Intelligence Community (IC) cybersecurity policies, standards, and best practices * Experience supporting classified networks, systems, and mission environments * Proven experience identifying, assessing, and mitigating cybersecurity risks while supporting mission and operational objectives * Experience developing security architectures, implementing security controls, and supporting Authorization to Operate (ATO) activities * Demonstrated leadership and recognized expertise as a cybersecurity subject matter expert Education and Certifications The Cybersecurity Information Systems Security Engineer, SME must meet the following: Required * Masters' degree: Arts (MA), Science (MS), or Engineering (ME) * Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of education * DoD 8170 IASAE Level III.
