Job Description:

General Summary:

Provide data, telecommunication, fire alarm, security, wireless LAN, acoustic calculations, audio visual systems design for new construction and/or renovation of industrial or commercial structures in conformance to client requirements and applicable codes. Provide the engineering to develop the construction documents for the installation, telecommunication and security networks.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Possess / demonstrate the engineering knowledge and understanding to design or analyze electrical systems for the installation, interconnection, and control of electrical and mechanical components using applicable codes including lighting & power distribution systems, low voltage systems (fire alarm systems, telecommunications, data networks, lighting control systems, power monitoring systems, etc.), sizing of equipment, etc.
  • Review and/or establish project scope, electrical budget, design approach, and applicable constraints with the Project Manager or client as appropriate.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of BICSI guidelines and NFPA -72, as they apply to the design.
  • Able to completely design a Public Address System.
  • Able to design audio visual systems.
  • Able to provide threat and security analysis reports for various types of facilities.
  • Able to adhere to project quality, budget, and schedule.
  • Prepare feasibility studies and schematic design packages of lighting, power systems, etc.
  • Perform production and quality monitoring of construction documents per company standards.
  • Communicate and work with all other disciplines to produce coordinated construction documents.
  • Edit or draft project specifications.
  • Develop and mentor less experienced staff.
  • Develop accurate project cost estimates.
  • Conduct field measuring and checking at the construction site.
  • Maintain organized project file containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference materials, etc.
  • Review project submittals (shop drawings) for conformance with contract documents; specify action required for conformance.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Employment Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree or in engineering or construction technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • RCDD certification required
  • Revit proficiency required
  • Security Certification CPP PSP from ASIS or ICAO
  • 12+ years of related and progressively more responsible experience in electrical engineering field.

Additional Skills:

  • Microsoft Office, emphasis on Excel and MSWord, Autodesk (Revit and AutoCAD), Acoustic Calculators EASE, BIM360, and Bluebeam
