Job Overview

We are seeking a Security Supervisor for our Safety Assessment site located in Reno, NV.

The Security Supervisor oversees the security personnel and operations of the facility, ensuring the safety of people and property. They are responsible for leading, training, and managing security staff, implementing security protocols, and responding to incidents. Their duties include supervising staff, conducting patrols, monitoring surveillance systems, and maintaining security records.

Ensures the protection of organizational personnel and company property against fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, and other hazards. Inspects credentials and facilities, and reports irregularities, alarm activation and tampering. Develops, implements and administers programs designed to protect organizational personnel and property. Ensures compliance with government and organization security policies and procedures and protects and safeguards intellectual property. Conducts investigations to identify and document instances of noncompliance and possible breaches in law.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise security guards in all aspects of facilities security to ensure safety and security of the facility, employees, guests and animals.

  • Ensure all security policies are communicated to all site employees and are adequately enforced.

  • Supervise the preparation and distribution of employee identification badges, following established procedures and policies

  • Schedule security staff work assignments to ensure adequate coverage of all security operations at the site.

  • Monitor electronic security systems and take necessary actions as required by established SOPs procedures and policies.

  • May provide coverage for absences of security staff.

  • Responsible for coordinating with security vendors, industry peers, local law enforcement agencies and corporate security staff on all relevant matters.

  • Authorized security decisions regarding local police, fire and hazardous facilities situations in absence of department management or assigned representative.

  • Conduct preliminary investigations, in conjunction with local management, Human Resources and Corporate Security, and identify breaches in security document and make recommendation for corrective action.

  • Coordinate all local security issues with Corporate Security to ensure that all significant issues and problems are communicated. Communicate with other company locations, as appropriate, to make them aware of issues and/or problems that may affect them.

  • Provide direct daily supervision and review work of assigned departmental employees to ensure accuracy and to ensure adherence to pertinent departmental policies, practices, and procedures [SOPs, safety procedures and biosafety protocols.] Schedule and prioritize workload of group members.

  • Assist in the interview and selection of qualified non-exempt personnel. Recommend personnel actions, including hiring, promotions and raises. Partner with Human Resources and departmental management to assist in the handling of disciplinary issues. Draft appropriate personnel action paperwork

Job Description

The following are minimum requirements related to the Security Supervisor position.

  • Education: Associate degree or the equivalent.

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in a business setting with at least 3 of those years directly related to a security function.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

  • Certification/Licensure: Valid Driver's license.

  • Other: None

The pay for this position is between $65,000- $75,000. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.

Schedule is M-F, 6 am - 2 pm daily and supports call outs as needed.
