What is a securities litigation plaintiff?

A Securities Litigation Plaintiff is an individual or entity that initiates a lawsuit alleging violations of securities laws, typically due to fraud, misrepresentation, or other misconduct by a company or its executives that has resulted in financial losses. These plaintiffs often represent a class of investors in class action lawsuits, seeking compensation for damages caused by the alleged wrongdoing. The process involves proving that the defendant's actions directly caused the plaintiff's financial harm. Securities litigation can be complex, involving detailed financial records and regulatory compliance issues. Plaintiffs often work with specialized attorneys experienced in securities law to pursue their claims.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a securities litigation plaintiff?
