Section II: Summary of Job Function

Secretary Medical assist the team by performing specific clerical functions for assigned areas. Performs general clerical work to relieve medical, professional and technical personnel of minor administrative and business details.

As a Secretary Medical, a typical day might include the following:

  • Welcoming patients, families, visitors, and physicians while providing exceptional customer service
  • Completing payroll and reports as coverage for the department
  • Preparing, organizing, and maintaining reports and unit documentation
  • Maintaining clerical operations within all modalities of the department
  • Maintaining medical and/or administrative files in accordance with department policy
  • Managing urgent tasks at the same and meeting deadlines
  • Tracking, routing and responding to all incoming and outgoing business communications within the department
  • Supporting the daily operations of the nursing station by maintaining supplies and ensuring an organized work environment

To be considered for this position, candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, along with previous clerical, administrative, or customer service experience. With minimum of 1-2 years of medical secretarial experience preferred. Strong communication, organizational, multitasking, and computer skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively in a collaborative healthcare environment. Knowledge of medical terminology, electronic medical records, physician order entry, and healthcare documentation is also preferred. Full Time, Monday-Friday from 8:00am-3:30pm.
